Start Nature vs. Nurture by speaking with Dolina near the Farmer’s Market in Emerald Stair. Finish the quest before the Naku Tedek section of the main quest Ancient Soil: Game8 reports it automatically fails after that point. The central choice is whether to support Amadio’s attempt to protect the land or fight him.
Where to start Nature vs. Nurture
Find Dolina north of the Farmer’s Market in Emerald Stair and speak with her. She asks you to investigate Xaurips accused of damaging the farms’ animancy equipment.
Do the quest before progressing through the Naku Tedek section of Ancient Soil. Game8’s walkthrough, last updated March 5, 2025, says the side quest automatically fails after that section: Game8’s Nature vs. Nurture walkthrough.
How to find Amadio
- Travel to the Fortified Xaurip Camp in the Grim Wetlands.
- Continue to the cave on the cliff and speak with Amadio. The Xaurips at the camp are initially behaving unusually rather than attacking, according to Game8.
- Hear Amadio’s explanation: he says the Xaurips are destroying the animancy equipment because it threatens nature and may contribute to the Dreamscourge. That is his claim in the quest, not a confirmed conclusion about the lore.
Should you support or attack Amadio?
Your choice determines whether you negotiate with the farmers or trigger a fight. The guides describe these reported outcomes:

Neither option is objectively best: support Amadio if you prefer to resolve the conflict through negotiation, or attack if you accept the fight and broader camp hostility. The sources do not establish a universal reward total across all dialogue variations.
How to complete the support route
- At the cave, tell Amadio, “You’re just trying to protect the land. I support that.” Agree to ask the farmers to call off the rangers.
- Return to the Farmer’s Market and speak with Dolina and Masco Laima. Ask them to call off the rangers.
- Go back to Amadio at the Fortified Xaurip Camp and report back to complete the quest.
What happens if you attack Amadio?
Choosing to fight starts combat with Amadio and the Xaurips in the cave. The camp’s other Xaurips become hostile as well, so expect a wider fight than the encounter in Amadio’s room alone. Game8 reports 124 XP and Wolf Boots loot from Amadio on this route.
