MultiVersus added several playable fighters after its 2022 open beta, including The Joker, Jason Voorhees, Banana Guard and Agent Smith. Aquaman and Lola Bunny arrived in its final season. The distinction matters: “not in the beta” may mean absent from the 2022 open beta or absent when the game returned in 2024. Season 5 was the final content update, so old leak lists are historical rumors—not a forecast of upcoming characters.
Which fighters were confirmed after the beta?
These names were confirmed as playable additions after the 2022 open beta. The timeline separates the 2024 return roster from the additions announced for the final season.
| Fighter | What was confirmed | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| The Joker | One of three new playable fighters when MultiVersus returned in 2024. Voice lines recorded by Mark Hamill had reportedly appeared in game data in September 2022, before the official announcement. | VGC, May 23, 2024 |
| Jason Voorhees | One of the three new playable fighters reported for the May 28, 2024 return. | VGC, May 23, 2024 |
| Banana Guard | One of the three new playable fighters reported for the May 28, 2024 return. | VGC, May 23, 2024 |
| Agent Smith | Identified in the same 2024 report as a planned addition later in the first season. This is a historical plan, not a future release announcement. | VGC, May 23, 2024 |
| Aquaman | Named by Warner Bros. Games as a new playable character for Season 5. | Warner Bros. Games Season 5 FAQ |
| Lola Bunny | Named by Warner Bros. Games as a new playable character for Season 5. | Warner Bros. Games Season 5 FAQ |
The Joker is a useful example of why a leak should not be treated as confirmation: his mined voice lines preceded his eventual announcement, but that outcome does not validate every other name found in game files.
Which names were only reported as leaks or rumors?
Historical rumor roundups mentioned Robin, Poison Ivy, Daenerys Targaryen, The Hound, Godzilla, Raven and others. PC Gamer’s September 2, 2022 list described candidates based on datamined material at the time; it is a dated account of speculation, not an official roster announcement or a complete list of characters that would eventually ship. See PC Gamer’s 2022 roundup.

Windows Central’s rumor roundup describes a mix of datamined files, text leaks and image leaks, and says there was no official confirmation of release timing or of those characters’ current or future existence in MultiVersus. Its likelihood labels are the outlet’s interpretation, not developer commitments. See Windows Central’s rumor roundup.
- Datamine: A name or asset in game files can be a placeholder, unused content, an asset for another purpose or work in progress.
- Text or image leak: These are claims reported by an outlet; absent an official announcement, they do not establish that a character was released.
- Fan request: A wanted fighter is not evidence of development or inclusion.
MultiVersus director Tony Huynh told VGC, “I can’t promise that there won’t ever be leaks or anything like that.” Huynh also said leaked reveals were “a disservice to the players,” describing the loss of a planned reveal as unfortunate. VGC published the interview report on May 23, 2024.

What happened to MultiVersus after its final season?
Warner Bros. Games says Season 5 began February 4, 2025, ended May 30, 2025, and was the game’s final season and content update. Its FAQ states that after the season the game would no longer be playable online or downloadable through PlayStation Network, Microsoft Store, Steam or Epic Games Store. The official Steam announcements also stated that online features and downloads would end with Season 5 on May 30, 2025.
The FAQ’s offline-play instructions applied to players who downloaded the latest version and logged in during Season 5: those players could continue offline through local play with all characters unlocked. The FAQ ties that access to the stated deadline. It does not document later changes to service status, so it should not be read as a guarantee that a new player can download the game or access online play now.
