The Robe of the Arcane Cheater treasure map is sold by Ihaka at The Thrifty Pig, just west of Tago’s Tower in Shatterscarp. You can skip the map and go straight to the chest: look for a small oasis in the Ancient Lakebed, climb the rocks on its eastern side, then drop onto the cave ledge above the water. The chest holds the unique light armor Robes of Surpassing Brilliance.
Where to buy the Robe of the Arcane Cheater treasure map
Ihaka sells the map at The Thrifty Pig, near Tago’s Tower in eastern Shatterscarp. Guide descriptions use different nearby area labels—Deadfall Highlands and Shark’s Teeth—but place the merchant just west of Tago’s Tower. PC Gamer lists the map for 1,680 coins; GameSpot names Ihaka but does not state a price.
How to reach the treasure cave without the map
- Travel to Eagle’s Reach and head toward the Ancient Lakebed.
- Find the small lake or oasis beside the path descending from Eagle’s Reach.
- Move to the rocks on the eastern side and climb until you are above the water.
- Drop down carefully onto the cave opening or ledge above the lake. Do not fall all the way to the lakebed.
- Enter the cave and open the chest for the Robes of Surpassing Brilliance.
A bounty target is reported near the oasis. Treat it as a nearby encounter, not as a confirmed requirement for reaching or opening the chest.
Do you need to buy the treasure map?
No. The map is a clue, not a requirement to open the chest. If you already know the Ancient Lakebed route, you can head directly to the cave and keep the reported 1,680 coins.

What do the Robes of Surpassing Brilliance do?
The robes are unique light armor. Published guides agree that they provide a 15% increase to area-of-effect damage, but they disagree on the maximum essence bonus: PC Gamer reports +10, while GameSpot reports +40. That figure is not established consistently, so check the item’s current in-game description rather than relying on either value.
