Streamlabs Talk Studio can send a YouTube study-music broadcast from a browser and play local MP3 or WAV files as background audio. It is a general streaming and recording studio, though—not a documented unattended, continuous music-streaming encoder. Its background-audio feature does not grant music rights, and YouTube may interrupt a live stream over third-party content. For a supervised session with properly cleared music, Talk Studio is a workable option; for a long-running loop, its unattended reliability is not established.
What Talk Studio does for a study-music stream
Talk Studio is Streamlabs’ browser-based live streaming and recording studio. Its product materials describe going live to YouTube, recording, inviting guests, sharing screens, and streaming privately or to supported destinations. Streamlabs says Talk Studio does not require a desktop installation. See Talk Studio Getting Started.
For a solo study broadcast, the relevant feature is Background Audio: select local audio files and play them beneath the broadcast. That makes Talk Studio plausible for a hosted or supervised session without a separate desktop streaming app. The documented workflow does not establish that it can safely run unattended for days, recover reliably from every interruption, or operate as a purpose-built continuous music encoder. This assessment is based on product documentation, not hands-on performance testing.
How to add study music and go live
- Check YouTube eligibility first. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio and follow YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Open Talk Studio in a browser and connect YouTube. Use Talk Studio’s destination setup to select YouTube and complete the current account-connection or stream setup prompts. Streamlabs’ destination instructions are available at Talk Studio Streaming Destinations; this support page is older, so use current YouTube instructions if its steps conflict. Add the broadcast title and other stream details as prompted; Streamlabs outlines the workflow in its Talk Studio Getting Started support article.
- Add the audio. In the editor, choose Share > Background Audio, then select one or more local MP3 or WAV files. Streamlabs documents that a single track loops; multiple files can be queued and repeated or shuffled. Use the playback controls to start or pause, adjust volume, and move through the queue. See Talk Studio Screen Sharing and How to Add Music to Your Live Stream.
- Test before the public broadcast. Check that the audio plays at an appropriate level and that the stream preview behaves as expected. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality; see YouTube live streaming tips for computers.
- Start the broadcast and supervise it. Confirm the live preview and listen for playback problems. Do not assume a long queue or loop will continue without supervision: the available Talk Studio documentation does not establish unattended continuous operation.
Music rights are the main risk
Uploading or selecting a file in Talk Studio only plays it; it does not license it. You are responsible for having the rights needed to use the music in a live broadcast and any replay. YouTube’s livestream terms say providers must have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights: Livestream terms and conditions.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the content continues, it may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube also says licensed content can still be interrupted unless the rights holder has allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
- Check the exact license for each track. “Royalty-free” alone does not confirm permission for YouTube live use, archived replays, your territories, or monetization.
- Ask the licensor whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting, and confirm that it has been completed before going live.
- Keep proof of the license and any allowlisting confirmation in case a claim or interruption occurs.
- Have a replacement track or a way to end the broadcast promptly if YouTube flags the audio.

| Plan | Displayed price | Resolution and destinations | Guests and recording | Other listed features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $9 per month billed monthly, or $7.50 per month with annual billing ($90 billed annually on the displayed page) | 720p; one destination | Up to five guests; recording and local recording up to four hours per track | Multiple cameras; no watermark; unlimited streaming |
| Pro | $17 per month billed monthly, or $12 per month with annual billing ($145 billed annually on the displayed page) | 1080p; multistream to unlimited destinations | Up to eleven guests; recording and local recording up to ten hours per track; 30-day recording storage | Branding tools, media upload, co-host seats, custom RTMP destinations, sound effects, and disconnection protection |
For a solo stream that only goes to YouTube, Pro’s extra guests, co-host seats, and multistreaming may not matter. Choose based on the resolution you need, the maximum session length you want to record, recording storage, and whether its additional production or disconnection features justify the price. The plan list does not establish that either tier is dependable for an unsupervised, continuous music stream.
Plan the replay and session length
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is YouTube’s archive guidance, not a Talk Studio recording limit. If the replay matters, keep a local recording backup and avoid relying on YouTube to preserve a stream longer than 12 hours. Check YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.

Talk Studio’s plan page lists local recording limits per track: up to four hours on Standard and up to ten hours on Pro. Those caps may affect how you split a session or whether your local copy covers the whole broadcast. A YouTube archive and a Talk Studio local recording are separate safeguards, so verify the recording is actually running and saved.

If you need a supervised broadcast with browser-based production controls, guests, or screen sharing, Talk Studio’s documented features may suit the job. If the goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube stream running while your computer is off, the available Talk Studio documentation does not establish that it is designed for that unattended use. StreamNeo is the alternative to try first for an always-on YouTube loop: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.

Common problems and practical fixes
- You cannot start a YouTube broadcast: confirm the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, then check YouTube Studio for account-specific prompts or limitations.
- Background audio is missing: confirm the selected file is MP3 or WAV, start playback in the Background Audio controls, and check the queue and volume. Test the preview before the public stream.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the live picture: treat this as a possible third-party content match. Stop or replace the flagged audio, review YouTube’s notice, and confirm the track’s live-stream rights and any required Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder.
- The replay is missing: check the stream duration against YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance. For future sessions, keep a local recording and make sure it fits the plan’s per-track recording limit.
- The session outlasts the available recording: Standard lists up to four hours per track and Pro up to ten hours. Shorten or divide the session, or arrange a separate recording workflow that you have verified in advance.
