Shadowpelt is found in Whistler’s Maw, an Abandoned Augur Mine in central Cuspid Climb, Terminus Range, on Kairos. The mine is story-gated: complete “Shadow of the Mountain” to unlock it. Guides list four possible Legendary drops—Birt’s Bees, Sparky Shield, Vamoose, and Slippy—but no reviewed source establishes item-specific drop odds.
Where to find Shadowpelt
Shadowpelt is inside Whistler’s Maw, an Abandoned Augur Mine in central Cuspid Climb, in the Terminus Range region of Kairos. Insider Gaming’s September 19, 2025 guide names Gray Havenage Safehouse, west of the mine, as the nearest fast-travel point. Heritage Opus Safehouse, southwest of the location, is an alternate approach.

How to unlock and reach the boss
Unlock the mine
If Whistler’s Maw is visible but you cannot enter, progress the main story through “Shadow of the Mountain,” then return. Guided’s September 19, 2025 guide identifies that mission as the unlock for the Abandoned Augur Mine.
Choose a fast-travel approach
- Gray Havenage: the nearest fast-travel point named by Insider Gaming; approach the mine from the west.
- Heritage Opus: an alternate safehouse southwest of Whistler’s Maw.
Fast-traveling to a nearby safehouse does not place you in the boss arena. Guided describes an interior cave route through a drop shaft and grottoes, with a ladder, breakable crate, grapple points, and a slatted barrier on the way to Shadowpelt. Follow the traversable route through the mine rather than expecting a direct entrance-to-arena path.

Shadowpelt’s reported Legendary drops
Insider Gaming lists four possible Legendary items; Guided’s shorter list includes three of them. These are guide-reported drops, not an official Gearbox-published Shadowpelt loot table.

For a targeted farm, the two items explicitly described as Shadowpelt-exclusive by Insider Gaming are Sparky Shield and Vamoose. The guides do not establish that Birt’s Bees or Slippy are exclusive to this boss.

Can you farm Shadowpelt, and what are the drop odds?
Guided says Shadowpelt can be farmed, so repeated attempts are possible. Insider Gaming says the SDU token is a first-defeat reward and does not repeat; it is not an ongoing reward for each kill.
No reviewed source gives a percentage chance for any of Shadowpelt’s listed items, or a number of runs that guarantees a drop. Gearbox’s January 15, 2026 minor update notes say a permanent increase to boss dedicated drop rates began that week. Its January 29, 2026 major update notes say Ultimate Vault Hunter levels raise dedicated loot drop levels, with higher levels increasing the chance of dedicated loot dropping. Those broad changes do not give Shadowpelt-specific odds for any particular item.
