The Standard Edition is the simplest choice for the base game. Deluxe adds a season pass voucher and cosmetics; the Joker Flight Pack is for buyers who also want the physical artbook and vinyl records.
What platforms is Ace Combat 8 on, and when did it launch?
Bandai Namco lists ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Its announced worldwide launch date was October 2, 2026. Deluxe buyers had early access before launch, but that was a launch-period benefit, not a reason to pay extra after release. Check your local storefront for exact availability and release timing, since store clocks can differ by region. Bandai Namco’s game page and PlayStation.Blog provide official product and timing information.
Which edition should you buy?
The practical choice depends on whether you value the base game, seasonal content, or physical collectibles. Bandai Namco’s official edition listing describes the following options:
| Edition | What it includes | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | The base game. | Players who want the game without added pass or cosmetic content. |
| Deluxe | The game, a voucher for one season of Premium Ace Pass, and a customizable cosmetic set that includes skins, a costume set, and missile smoke. | Players who expect to use the pass or want the cosmetics. The voucher is not tied to a specific season, so it may be saved for a later one. |
| Joker Flight Pack | Deluxe Edition contents, a 200-plus-page ACES at WAR: A HISTORY 2029 artbook, and two LP vinyl records with a slipcover and slipmat. | Collectors who want the physical artbook and vinyl alongside the game. |
Cosmetic availability has limits: some items are online-only, while some can be used in the campaign only after completing all missions. The Deluxe voucher covers one season of Premium Ace Pass; the publisher describes free ACE PASS, Premium Ace Pass, and Premium Ace Pass Plus tiers. Plus includes a 30-level skip. Seasonal rewards can change, and future details may be announced later. The game also indicates in-game purchases in its official rating and content information. Are preorder bonuses or early access still relevant?
Early access was tied to Deluxe at launch and is no longer a post-launch benefit. Publisher and platform materials have described preorder bonuses including playable F-14A access and a copy of ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR, but offers can vary by region or digital availability, and content or specifications may change. Before buying, check the exact listing for your region rather than assuming a bonus is included. PlayStation.Blog and Xbox Wire carry platform-specific offer information.
What do you get from multiplayer?
Bandai Namco describes ACE COMBAT ONLINE as a cross-play mode with co-op and PvP/PvE activities. Listed modes and events include Co-Op Assault, Co-Op Warfare, emergency missions, and limited-time PvP events. Its Air Base hub can host up to 100 players; that is the published capacity of a hub, not a measure of how many people are currently online. Online progression and save data are separate from campaign progression and saves. Bandai Namco’s game page has the official feature description.

Creative Bloq reviewer Ian Dean scored the PS5 version 8/10 in a review published September 25, 2026. He praised the visual polish, dramatic missions, weather effects that influence combat, and entertaining arcade flight loop. His reservations were that the core gameplay will feel familiar to series veterans and that squadron commands lack depth. This is one reviewer’s assessment, not a review consensus. That makes the game a more natural fit for players who enjoy Ace Combat 7, arcade flight combat, and cinematic set pieces than for someone seeking a new combat formula, elaborate wingman-command systems, or a realistic flight simulator. As Dean puts it: “It’s not a reinvention of the series, but when Ace Combat 8 is flying at full speed, it doesn’t really need to do much more.”
