Alanko works across composition, music production and sound design. His official biography describes him as three-times BAFTA nominated and lists Remedy titles including Alan Wake, Quantum Break, Control and Alan Wake 2. The wording is nominations, not wins. What is his connection to Control Resonant?
Alanko is associated with the music of Control Resonant, and a September 2026 MusicRadar interview discusses his work on the sequel. In that interview, he describes a workflow that begins with absorbing a project’s presentations and imagining sounds, moods, harmonies and melodies from the material. That offers a glimpse of his approach, but sequel-specific production details should not be inferred from the original Control soundtrack’s documented process.
Who composed the original Control soundtrack?
Alanko and Martin Stig Andersen composed the original Control score together. Remedy’s 2019 scoring announcement presents their contributions as complementary: Andersen brought experience with eerie composition, while Alanko contributed orchestral and electronic arrangements. The score was intended to shift with a game that sets reality against the unexplainable, moving between surreal and action-heavy moments.

Ville Sorsa, Control’s Senior Audio Designer, described the brief this way: “We knew Control required a very specific form of music to fit the aesthetic vision.”
How did Alanko create Control’s unusual sounds?
Alanko says he built a special sound library for Control, including custom virtual instruments, and stepped away from familiar tunings and harmonies to find a different angle for the game. His account emphasizes the overlap between composing and sound design: he recorded everyday objects and used them as source material rather than relying only on conventional instruments.
