Arrow Lake-S is the available, documented Intel desktop platform; Nova Lake-S is not yet a product buyers can fairly compare against it. Intel has published Arrow Lake-S family specifications and launched Core Ultra 200S processors, but the available evidence does not establish Nova Lake-S retail specifications, socket, launch date, or independent benchmark results. If you need a CPU now, judge an Arrow Lake-S model by its current price and performance in your games and other workloads. If you can wait, compare it with Nova Lake-S only after Intel publishes the platform details and independent reviews test retail chips.
What is the difference between Nova Lake-S and Arrow Lake-S right now?
Arrow Lake-S is Intel’s codename for the Core Ultra 200S desktop processor family. Intel announced the family on October 10, 2024, and said products would be available starting October 24, 2024. The newer Core Ultra 200S Plus models are Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus; Intel announced them on March 11, 2026, with retail availability beginning March 26.
Nova Lake-S is the subject of recent reports, including coverage of a purported leaked product list and cache configurations dated October 2, 2026. Such reports are not official product specifications or performance tests. Intel documentation available for this comparison does not confirm Nova Lake-S final SKUs, retail timing, motherboard socket, or benchmarks. That means there is no responsible basis to declare one generation faster or better for gaming today.
What Intel has confirmed about Arrow Lake-S
Intel’s 2026 processor documentation lists family-level limits of up to 8 Performance-cores (P-cores), 16 Efficient-cores (E-cores), and 4 Xe graphics cores for the S desktop line. It also documents base-power classes of 125 W, 65 W, and 35 W, and identifies the package as LGA1851. These are family-level limits and classes, not a promise that every processor contains the maximum core or graphics configuration. Check the exact SKU specification before choosing a CPU.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The 270K Plus and 250K Plus have Intel-announced suggested starting prices of $299 and $199, respectively. Those are historical suggested launch prices, not a statement of current retail pricing. Check live pricing and stock in your country before comparing value.
What is known—and not confirmed—about Nova Lake-S
Recent secondary reports indicate Nova Lake-S is in development, but leaked details should not be treated as settled product facts. Intel has not verified the reported core counts, cache totals, clocks, socket, prices, or performance in the materials available here. A 2025 report attributed a later-2026 roadmap intention to Intel, but an earlier roadmap report is not a confirmed retail date.

In practical terms, buyers cannot yet establish whether Nova Lake-S will fit a particular motherboard, how it will perform in games, or what a complete system will cost. Treat any claims about those points as provisional unless Intel publishes specifications and the claims are tested on retail hardware.
Should you buy Arrow Lake-S now or wait?
Buy now if an Arrow Lake-S CPU meets a real need

Wait if your purchase is flexible
Waiting makes sense if you can keep using your current PC and want a genuine generation-to-generation comparison. Revisit the decision after Nova Lake-S has official specifications, confirmed motherboard support, local retail availability, and independent reviews. A product announcement or leak alone does not answer whether waiting will deliver better performance or value.
