First confirm which game and update you mean: preparation depends on the official notes, platform, version, and whether the update is still upcoming or already live. For an unconfirmed checklist, read the announcement, keep a recoverable save if your game and platform support one, and make room only when the announced content gives you a reason. Those are prudent player steps—not universal developer requirements.
Start by identifying the update
“Village update” can mean very different things across games. Before changing buildings, storage, or production, pin down the game, the named patch or DLC, your platform, and its release state. Check the developer’s official announcement or patch notes for the applicable version and any explicit prerequisites. Treat community speculation as speculation, not as a requirement.
This distinction matters for the two current examples: Foundation’s Harvest Festival DLC is announced for October 8, 2026, while Medieval Dynasty’s Full Stock Update is already available.
A practical preparation checklist
- Read the official update information. Note the release date, version number, platform scope, and any stated prerequisites. If the update is not yet live, check for revised notes close to launch.
- Keep a way back, if supported. Preserve a recoverable save or backup using the options available for your game and platform. This is a general precaution, not a requirement announced for either Foundation: Harvest Festival or Medieval Dynasty’s Full Stock Update.
- Make flexible space only when it makes sense. If the developer says new buildings, activities, or map features need room, leave an adaptable area rather than demolishing valuable structures. If the announcement does not say space is needed, do not assume that clearing your settlement is necessary.
- Avoid irreversible guesses. Do not tear down production chains, discard stored resources, or redesign a settlement around mechanics that have not been confirmed.
- After installation, verify what arrived. Check the installed version and current notes, then adjust your village to the content actually available on your platform.
What the current game examples tell you
| Game and update | Release state | What the official announcement confirms | Preparation advice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Foundation: Harvest Festival | Announced for October 8, 2026 | Crops and orchards, chickens, pigs and geese, production chains and recipes, plus Festival Grounds with food, drinks, and entertainment. | The announcement encourages preparing a celebration, but does not specify inventory, save, or settlement-clearance requirements. Check the latest official notes near launch. |
| Medieval Dynasty: Full Stock Update | Released June 11, 2026 as update 2.6.0.1 | Intel XeSS 3 support; 47 decorations and 32 containers; ivy for houses; storage visuals that change with chest fullness; and inhabitants using selected furniture in their free time. | Before release, the developers advised players to leave some space. The update is now live, so check its notes and adapt your village to the installed content. |
Foundation: Harvest Festival is still upcoming
Polymorph Games announced the October 8, 2026 launch on September 14, 2026. Its description outlines new agriculture, animals, production, recipes, and festival activity, but does not provide a pre-update checklist or say existing players must clear settlement space. A flexible area for festival activity may be a reasonable choice if it suits your town, but it is not a stated prerequisite. Read the official Foundation announcement.

Medieval Dynasty: Full Stock is already released
Render Cube and Toplitz’s June 3, 2026 release-time announcement told players to “finish the preparation of your village, leaving some space for what’s coming.” The follow-up release post on June 11 confirmed the Full Stock Update as version 2.6.0.1. Since it is released, use the current notes rather than treating the earlier advice as a pending checklist. The same post describes The Backwood as a planned free DLC for 2027, with an uninhabited map and Creative Mode; plans and timing can change. Read the official Medieval Dynasty announcements.
