How do I find my Michigan clerk’s office?

Go to Michigan.gov/Vote and open the clerk locator.

Find the clerk for the city or township where you live. The lookup provides the clerk’s address, email address, phone number and drop-box locations.

Use that assigned clerk for questions about your ballot. Do not assume the county clerk is the right contact for an individual ballot issue.

How can I check whether my absentee ballot was received?
Use Michigan’s official ballot tracker at mi.gov/myvoterinfo. Search using your name, birth month and year, and ZIP code, or your driver’s license number. In the “Absentee ballot” section, check when the ballot was sent and whether the clerk has recorded it as received.
What the tracker may not show
The tracker covers absentee-ballot applications and mail-ballot activity. If you return your ballot at an early voting site or on Election Day, the online record may not show it as received, and you may not receive a notification.

How do I contact my local clerk about my ballot?
Use the contact details for your assigned clerk in the Michigan.gov/Vote lookup. Michigan’s official FAQ identifies the local clerk as the contact for questions about the mailing or receipt of an absentee-ballot application or ballot. When you call or write, say whether your question concerns the application, mailing, receipt, or another ballot issue; include relevant election and tracker details so the clerk can identify the matter.
Ballot availability, return methods and deadlines can vary by election or change. For time-sensitive questions, check the current official state instructions and contact your clerk rather than relying on a general deadline.

Who do I call about a broader Michigan election question?
For broader state election-administration questions, the Michigan Department of State’s Bureau of Elections is the state-level contact. The state FAQ lists its office at 430 W. Allegan St., Lansing, Michigan, and regular mail at Michigan Department of State, Bureau of Elections, PO Box 20126, Lansing, MI 48901-0726. It lists office hours as 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays. Check the state site for current contact details before relying on them. These state contacts do not replace your local clerk for a question about your particular ballot.
