If Minecraft Dungeons II will not launch or keeps crashing on Steam Deck, first make sure the Steam version has its latest update. Mojang said on October 1, 2026, that a Steam update should make the game playable on Deck, though it also warned that the on-screen keyboard may be missing and that more work toward full Steam Deck verification is planned. The right next step depends on whether your problem is launching, account linking, text entry, or controller behavior.
Is Minecraft Dungeons II playable on Steam Deck?
Mojang’s status changed quickly after launch. On September 30, 2026, its launch update said work on Steam Deck support was ongoing. On October 1, Mojang’s Steam Deck update said the game should now be playable on Deck. That update did not say the game had received full Steam Deck verification; it said more improvements were planned toward it.
The October 1 post specifically flags possible missing on-screen keyboard functionality. It does not say that all controllers are affected or that every player will encounter the same problem. Because these statements describe fast-changing launch support, install the current Steam build before diagnosing your copy.
Minecraft Dungeons II won’t launch on Steam Deck
- Update the game. In Steam, open Library, select Minecraft Dungeons II, and install any available update. Mojang’s October 1 Steam update changed its stated Deck status to playable.
- Try launching again. If it still will not start, note what happens: for example, whether the game closes immediately, remains on a loading screen, or displays an error. The official updates cited here do not prescribe a specific launch setting or device-specific diagnosis.
- Report a reproducible failure. Use the feedback and bug-report links in Mojang’s October 1 update. Include the symptom and that you are playing the Steam version on Steam Deck.
Why does Minecraft Dungeons II keep crashing on Steam Deck?
Mojang’s September 30, 2026, launch known-issues post said crash and stability hotfixes were in progress. That is a dated report of work at launch, not a guarantee that every current crash has the same cause or that a particular fix is available.

- Check for and install the latest game update, then retry.
- If the crash continues, record when it happens and any displayed error before reporting it through the official bug links in the Mojang update.
The official posts cited here do not establish a universal crash procedure. They also do not verify replacing game files, installing a custom Proton build, or adding launch options as fixes.
Login or account linking fails
On September 30, Mojang said it had resolved most backend login and account-linking problems and asked affected players to try again. If you were unable to sign in during that launch-period incident, retrying is the official suggested step. The post does not promise that this will resolve every login problem now; report a persistent or reproducible failure through Mojang’s known-issues post links.

The on-screen keyboard does not appear
Mojang’s October 1, 2026, update warns that on-screen keyboard functionality may be missing. It does not document a software fix. If you need to enter text, a compatible USB-C keyboard may be a practical optional workaround for text entry only; it will not address crashes, login failures, or controller recognition.

The official updates cited here do not publish a controller-specific fix or establish that Steam Deck controls or other gamepads are broadly affected. One player-submitted DualSense report describes a change to that player’s native DualSense support and says enabling Steam Input helped in their case. This is an individual report, not an official diagnosis or a verified fix for Steam Deck controllers.

If your controller behaves unexpectedly, you can test your own Steam Input configuration, but do not assume a particular toggle will solve the issue. Record which controller and behavior are involved, then report a reproducible problem through the official feedback and bug links in Mojang’s October 1 update.
