Start with your storefront and the exact symptom
Halo Infinite is available on PC through Steam or the Xbox app/Microsoft Store. The free multiplayer and paid Campaign are separate access components, so Campaign missing from a game that otherwise opens is not the same problem as Halo Infinite crashing before it starts.
- The whole game will not launch: note whether you use Steam or the Xbox app/Microsoft Store, and whether an error appears.
- The game opens but Campaign is missing: check that you are signed in with the correct Gamertag, that the game is updated, and that Campaign is installed through the in-game Manage Game flow.
- Campaign ownership: Steam Campaign ownership remains tied to Steam. Xbox/Microsoft Store purchases carry across those listed Xbox storefronts under Xbox Play Anywhere. Halo Support’s Campaign known-issues page is dated June 10, 2025, version 1.11.0.1; its global PC known-issues page is dated November 18, 2025. Treat the items below as issues those pages list, not confirmation that every issue remains active today.
Halo Infinite crashes on launch on Steam
Halo Support’s June 10, 2025 Campaign issue list describes a Steam launch crash associated with the Campaign and Multiplayer High-Res Texture Pack DLC. Its listed workaround is to remove DLC in stages, letting Steam update the game between attempts.

- In your Steam Library, right-click Halo Infinite and choose Properties.
- Open the DLC tab. Uncheck Multiplayer High-Res Textures, allow the update to finish, then try launching the game.
- If it still crashes, return to Properties > DLC. Uncheck Campaign and Campaign High-Res Textures, allow the update to finish, and retry.
- If the game still will not launch after all DLC has been removed, fully reboot the PC and try again.
- If it launches, reinstall any removed DLC you want to use.
This is a dated, specific workaround from Halo Support’s Campaign Known Issues page, not a general fix for every Steam crash.
“Easy Anti-Cheat is missing” or the game will not start
Halo Support calls missing EAC a rare PC launch issue. Follow the steps for the storefront where the game is installed:

Halo Support also lists Comodo Antivirus as a possible launch blocker for Xbox app/Microsoft Store PC installs. For that named product and storefront only, its workaround is to add Halo Infinite to Comodo’s Excluded Applications list. Verify files and repair a potentially corrupted installation
Modified or corrupted game files can cause crashes and performance problems, according to Halo Support. Its corruption guidance describes rare cases including silent crashes, freezing, and Windows messages such as “Damaged media” or “module is damaged.” Start with verification or app repair rather than immediately reinstalling.
- Steam: Steam Library > right-click Halo Infinite > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Wait for the check and any replacement downloads to complete before launching again.
- Xbox app/Microsoft Store: use Windows app repair for Halo Infinite. If repair does not resolve the problem, uninstall and reinstall.
Halo Support’s guidance is to verify or repair first, then perform a full uninstall and reinstall if needed. See its installation corruption guidance and crash and performance guidance. These official sources do not endorse third-party driver-updater utilities, registry cleaners, or generic game-fixer programs.
Low FPS or stuttering: compare your PC with Halo Support’s published tiers
Halo Support’s published specification table is dated December 12, 2024. These are the requirements it lists, not a current Windows recommendation or a guarantee of a particular frame rate. Check the support specifications page for updates before relying on the figures.

The Windows releases in that table are what Halo Support’s 2024 page lists; do not read them as advice to install an old Windows version. If your PC meets the relevant published tier, check the graphics driver and then adjust in-game video settings in line with the support guidance. The cited requirement is an SSD with at least 50 GB; the page does not specify NVMe versus SATA, form factor, brand, or model.
Find the GPU and driver version in Windows
- Open Start, search for dxdiag, and launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
- Select the Display tab.
- Record the listed GPU device and driver version, then compare them with the driver guidance from the GPU maker.
Halo Support says: “Please contact the GPU’s manufacturer if you have any issues with installing graphics drivers or maintaining a graphics processing unit (GPU).”

Halo Support’s PC issue list identifies several specific settings or driver conditions that can affect performance. Try the relevant item rather than changing every graphics or Windows option at once.

- Older AMD graphics driver: Halo Support lists poor performance with older AMD GPU drivers and says updating to the most recent version resolves that listed issue. Obtain drivers through the GPU manufacturer.
- AMD Radeon Anti-Lag: if you use the feature and are experiencing hitches, try turning it off to see whether the symptom changes. Halo Support lists it as a possible cause on some systems.
- Windows recording: Halo Support says Windows 10 Background Recording and Windows 11 Record What Happened can cause performance issues. Disable the relevant capture feature as the first listed workaround.
- Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: Halo Support says turning this off may also resolve the recording-related performance issue. It is off by default on Windows 10 and on by default on Windows 11, so check the current setting before testing it as an alternative.

These Campaign cases occur during gameplay and should not be mistaken for proof of a general PC launch or performance defect. Halo Support warns that forcibly closing the game during active Campaign gameplay and then loading a different save on the next launch can overwrite or corrupt progress in some cases. Use the pause menu to return to the main menu before closing.
- Endless loading after fast-traveling while dead: Halo Support’s listed workaround is to close and reload the save from the main menu.
- Blue loading banner cancelled by switching modes: wait for loading to finish and exit through the pause menu. If the game is already unresponsive, close and relaunch it.

Still crashing? Send Halo Support useful diagnostics
For a reproducible crash that remains after the applicable checks, Halo Support asks players to provide the steps that led to it, a DxDiag file, and the Windows Control Panel Problem Report for Halo Infinite. For low performance, its guidance is to verify specifications and drivers, then test in-game video settings if those checks pass. Halo Support’s performance guidance
Include the storefront, Windows version, GPU and driver version, when the failure occurs, exact error text, and which official checks changed the behavior. This helps distinguish a missing Campaign component, a launch failure, an installation problem, and a performance symptom without assuming they share one cause.
