Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To reduce packet loss in Modern Warfare 4, first check platform service status, then compare your usual connection with a wired test and reduce other household bandwidth use. For input lag on PC, test rendering settings separately. Network instability and delayed frame delivery can feel similar, but there is no established Modern Warfare 4-specific fix that resolves both.
First, work out which kind of delay you are seeing
Note whether the problem is steady or intermittent, whether it happens only in Modern Warfare 4 or during other online activity too, which platform you use, whether you are on Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and when the issue occurs. Sluggish controls alone do not establish packet loss.
- Network instability: the connection to online play may be unstable even while menus and local controls feel responsive.
- Rendering or display delay: frames may be delivered or shown late; on PC, graphics and frame-delivery settings can affect this path.
This is a troubleshooting distinction, not a claim about a particular in-game indicator.
Check service status and household network use
Before changing your setup, check whether the platform’s network service is having an issue. Activision’s Online Services page links to platform status services. If services appear available, pause or limit bandwidth-heavy applications in your household and test again. Activision lists limiting such applications among its general connection tips; it is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed cure.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Test the local connection
- Restart the router. Activision recommends restarting the router as a general connection troubleshooting step. Retest after it is back online.
- Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet, if you currently use Wi-Fi. Test on the same device and under similar time and household-load conditions. Activision’s advice is direct: “Try using a wired connection.” A Cat 6 Ethernet cable can be a practical accessory for this comparison, but it is not a guaranteed fix and cannot repair a problem on the ISP route or farther upstream.
- Check your connection speed. Activision includes checking speed among its general tips. A speed result alone does not establish that the route to the game service is stable.
These steps help isolate common local factors, but packet loss can also arise beyond the home network, including on an ISP route or at a platform or game service. Activision’s connection tips are broad guidance, not a Modern Warfare 4-specific diagnostic flow.
On PC, test rendering latency separately
Independent PC guides suggest trying the following settings; they are not Activision policy or controlled benchmark evidence, and availability and effects can vary by game version, GPU, display, and system. Change one setting at a time and compare in similar conditions so you can identify what made a difference.

If the issue continues, use Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 Feedback and Bug Reporting route. Activision says a helpful report includes “what happened, where and when it happened, and steps to reproduce what you experienced.” Add your platform, whether you were on Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet, and whether platform services were online when the problem occurred. Those details help describe the conditions without assuming a cause.
