Then try Steam’s general launch checks: update Windows and graphics drivers, verify the installed game files, and close non-essential software. These are general troubleshooting steps, not confirmed fixes for a known Burning Sword bug.
Steam’s store listing still says the full game is “Coming soon” and “This game is not yet available on Steam.” A Steam Community announcement dated September 18, 2026 says a new demo and update are on the way, but gives no release date. Check the current store or community page before applying advice to a particular demo or build.
Check which build and platform you are using
Before changing settings, note whether the problem occurs with a publicly available demo or another installed build. Record your Windows version, CPU, graphics card, RAM, available storage, the build or demo version if shown, and the exact error message. Advice for an earlier demo or a different platform may not apply to a later build.
The Steam listing specifies 64-bit Windows 10 or later. If Steam reports “Game is not available on your current platform,” Steam says this means the game is not supported on the current operating system. Compare your OS and hardware with the listing before trying launch workarounds.

Compare your PC with the published requirements
Steam lists the following PC specifications. Meeting the minimum does not prove that a particular crash is caused by hardware, and being close to the requirements can still be associated with performance or launch problems. A symptom alone is not a reason to buy or replace a component.

The extra SSD notes appear alongside the separate 50 GB available-storage requirement. Steam’s listing does not explain how the figures relate, so treat both notes as written rather than assuming one replaces the other.

Try Steam’s general checks for a game that will not launch
Steam recommends these general checks for games that fail to start. They have not been confirmed as title-specific fixes for Burning Sword: Death Sun.
- Restart the PC. After restarting, try launching the installed build once before changing other settings.
- Update Windows and your graphics driver. Install available updates for your operating system and GPU, then restart if prompted.
- Verify the game files in Steam. In your Steam Library, right-click Burning Sword: Death Sun, open Properties, choose Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam complete the check and retry the game.
- Close non-essential software that could interfere. Exit overlays, recording tools, and other background applications you do not need, then try again. Change one thing at a time and note whether the error or symptom changes.
Steam’s guidance is titled “Games do not run after ‘Preparing to Launch’”. It advises contacting the game’s developer if the general steps do not resolve the problem.

If the game opens to a black screen
A Steam Community discussion titled “Stuck in loading PC + Steamdeck” contains an individual report of a loading or black-screen problem. It is an older anecdote, not evidence that current Windows builds have a widespread black-screen bug. A developer-side comment said the team did not then have a Steam Deck available to verify the issue; that does not establish a current Deck or PC workaround.
No supported Burning Sword: Death Sun-specific black-screen setting or fix is established in the available official material. Try the general checks above, and include whether the game shows a black screen immediately, after a logo, or during loading when you report the problem.

Do not copy generic Source-engine launch options
Options such as -autoconfig, -safe, and -dxlevel are sometimes suggested in generic Steam display troubleshooting. Steam says the display options it documents are for Valve games and do not affect other Steam games. No launch command for Burning Sword: Death Sun has been verified here, so use one only if the developer documents it for your specific build.
Contact support with actionable details
If the Steam checks do not help, contact the developer through the current official Steam store or Community route. Include the exact error text, Windows version, CPU, GPU, RAM, free storage, build or demo version, and the steps you already tried. This gives support enough context to distinguish a platform mismatch, a local setup issue, and a possible build-specific defect.
