Is Burning Sword: Death Sun like Sekiro?
There is a broad overlap: both are sword-focused action games set in Japanese- or martial-arts-inspired worlds, and both describe combat that rewards using character abilities rather than relying on a plain series of attacks. But the available official descriptions do not establish that the games play alike or that their combat has the same feel.
What Burning Sword emphasizes
Steam describes Burning Sword: Death Sun as a Wuxia hack-and-slash game from Nomadic Games, published on Steam as Rising Tide. Its protagonist, Zhang Yixian, is a martial artist on a revenge journey. Listed mechanics include martial techniques, Qi-powered abilities, a skill tree, a “Burning Sword” power mechanic, and using objects in the environment. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice follows the one-armed shinobi known as Wolf in a dark, fantastical version of late-1500s Sengoku Japan. Its official description combines sword combat with stealth, vertical traversal, prosthetic tools, and ninja abilities. Try the Burning Sword demo if its systems interest you
If the Wuxia setting, Qi abilities, environmental combat, or run-based demo structure sounds appealing, the demo is a way to explore what is currently available. Steam recommends a controller and lists controller support. The full game remains marked “Coming soon” on Steam, so use the listing to check the demo and release status rather than assuming the complete game can be purchased now. The practical difference is clear: Sekiro is a released game with official descriptions of its combat and traversal; Burning Sword: Death Sun is still listed as forthcoming, with a demo and described features to consider. Official feature lists can help you decide which premise and mechanics interest you, but they do not prove which game is more fun, harder, or better-performing. No direct comparative playtest establishes those judgments.
