1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBurning Sword: Death Sun puts parrying inside a timing-focused combat kit built around dodging, strikes, combos and learned techniques. Its official materials confirm that parrying is an option, but do not specify the input, timing window or what a successful parry does. The documented systems around it are clearer: repeated hits build an offensive Power Gauge, while Qi fuels skills and blasts—and running out of Qi costs health.
What is confirmed about parrying?
The official Steam description lists “dodge, parry, strike, combo” as actions available to the player and says combat rewards skill and timing while punishing mistakes harshly. It does not explain how to perform a parry or what happens when one succeeds. The developer’s October 1, 2026 demo announcement describes other combat mechanics but adds no parry-specific instructions. The Steam listing and the developer’s Steam Community announcements therefore establish parrying as part of the combat system, not its precise rules.
In particular, the available official descriptions do not establish a parry button, whether it must be tapped or held, a directional requirement, a timing window, a penalty for a failed attempt, or whether success interrupts or exposes an enemy. Check the current demo’s tutorial or controls for the actual input rather than assuming a familiar deflect or counter mechanic.
How the documented combat systems work
Build the Power Gauge through attacks
According to the developer’s October 1, 2026 announcement, landing repeated hits fills the Power Gauge. Once it is filled, the player can ignite the Burning Sword; while active, each strike hits harder. The announcement does not give a gauge capacity, effect duration, damage increase or contribution rate for individual attacks.

Manage Qi before it runs dry
Qi powers skills and ranged Qi blasts. If the reserve is depleted, it begins consuming health. The game also describes Qi as scarce but important for restoring vitality and fueling techniques. Qi Drain is a separate forbidden technique that steals both life and Qi from enemies. The published descriptions do not give exact costs, recovery rates or health-loss amounts, so those mechanics cannot be reduced to a specific formula.
Use Rebound and Qinggong to shape encounters
Rebound lets Zhang Yixian launch objects in the arena at enemies to create an opening for an attack. The sources do not identify which objects can be used or specify Rebound’s activation method. Qinggong provides mobility options that include running up walls and floating through the air, supporting traversal and positioning as well as direct engagement.

How the October 2026 demo structures combat
The developer’s October 1, 2026 announcement describes a free demo with light roguelite elements. After the prologue, players reach a hub where a shrine lets them equip and customize skills. A shop’s stock expands as bosses are defeated and achievements and unlocks are earned. Fights and rewards are randomized along the route, and exploration areas near bosses contain paths and secrets. The announcement presents these changing encounters and rewards as ways to encourage different approaches while retaining the core combat and difficulty.
This describes the demo’s run structure, not a parry-specific progression system: the announcement does not say that parry timing or effects change with skills, rewards or upgrades.

What an older Perfect Dodge note does—and does not—tell you
Official version 0.3.1.4 prologue-demo patch notes, dated June 9, 2025, say a Perfect Dodge can be followed immediately by a Charge Attack. That is a detail from an older build. It does not establish that the same follow-up or controls remain in the October 2026 demo, and it says nothing about the parry window.
