Which Ape Escape games are available on PS4 and PS5?
The two entries confirmed in the PlayStation Store listings reviewed are the original Ape Escape and the PSP conversion Ape Escape: On the Loose. Sony lists both for PS4 and PS5.

These are converted versions rather than proof that original PS1 or PSP discs will work on a modern console. Sony describes the original game’s conversion as including up-rendering, rewind, quick save and custom video filters; it lists the same features for On the Loose.

Open the game’s product page in the PlayStation Store on your console or through the Store website, then check the price and purchase option shown for your country. The US listings reviewed displayed $9.99 per game. A UK listing for the original Ape Escape displayed £7.99 when accessed in 2026; these are dated price snapshots, not guarantees. Check PlayStation Plus Premium access
The US listings also showed PlayStation Plus Premium access. Subscription catalog contents are subject to change, and availability can differ by region; confirm that the game is currently included in your local catalog before subscribing. Sony’s instructions for finding eligible titles are under the PlayStation Plus area on PS5 or PS4: PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog access.
Downloading eligible Classics Catalog games requires the appropriate membership plan. Streaming also requires the appropriate plan and broadband of at least 5 Mbps; Sony specifies at least 15 Mbps for 1080p streaming when the game supports that resolution. Not every game is downloadable or streamable in every region.

What to expect from the modern conversions
The original Ape Escape
Sony’s PS4/PS5 listing names DualSense and DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller support. It also cautions that the conversion can play differently from the original and does not support PlayStation-console peripherals, so some original functionality may be unavailable. Sony notes that PS5 play may require current system software and that some PS4 features may be missing on PS5. The US listing shows English voice; language options can differ by regional listing. Check the US product details or the UK product details for the relevant region.
Ape Escape: On the Loose
This is a conversion of the PSP release, not the original PlayStation version. Sony warns it can behave differently from the PSP game and does not support PSP peripherals. The listing specifies one player and offline play.

What about Ape Escape 2 and Ape Escape 3?
The official-store search reviewed for this guide did not confirm modern-console listings for Ape Escape 2 or Ape Escape 3. That does not establish that they are unavailable everywhere: check your country’s PlayStation Store and current subscription catalog for the latest regional information. Do not assume a legacy PS2 disc is a supported way to play either game on PS4 or PS5.
