Why is my Fortnite cosmetic code not working? First, identify what kind of code you have: a promotion-specific cosmetic code, an Epic Games retail product code, a V-Bucks card, or a Fortnite Gift Card. They use different redemption routes. If your code came from a promotion, follow that campaign’s official instructions; Epic’s general code and V-Bucks help pages do not establish one universal redemption path for every cosmetic promotion.
How do I fix a Fortnite code that says invalid?
Start with the code’s label and issuer, then use the redemption route for that exact product. A V-Bucks PIN does not belong in the general Epic retail-code form, and a Fortnite Gift Card is not a V-Bucks card.

If it’s a promotional cosmetic code
Use the exact redemption site, launcher, or in-game process named by the promotion’s issuer. Check the campaign terms for the eligible account, region, platform, and any deadline or use restrictions; the available Epic guidance does not establish expiration dates, eligibility rules, or a universal recovery process for promotional cosmetic codes.

- Confirm the code came from the official campaign or a legitimate seller.
- Check that you are signed into the Epic account the promotion says should receive the item.
- Re-enter the code exactly as instructed and use the campaign’s specified redemption surface.
- If the instructions are unavailable, or a purchased code fails, contact the issuer or retailer with the receipt and exact error message.
Epic’s note about retailer activation applies to V-Bucks cards; it does not establish that a cosmetic promotion code is inactive for the same reason.
If it’s an Epic retail product code
Sign into the Epic account that should receive the entitlement. Redeem it through the Epic Games Launcher’s Redeem Code control or the Epic Games Store website’s code redemption page. If you entered it while signed into another account, the entitlement may have been applied to the wrong account.

If it’s a V-Bucks card
Follow Epic’s V-Bucks card flow rather than the general retail-code form. Before confirming, check the Epic account, the in-game display identity, the selected platform, and the balance shown on the confirmation screen.
- Sign into the Epic account you intend to use in Fortnite.
- Open Epic’s V-Bucks card redemption page and enter the card PIN without dashes.
- Select a platform from the devices linked to that Epic account.
- Review the account, platform, and displayed V-Bucks balance carefully before confirming.
- Keep the purchase receipt in case you need help from the retailer or Epic.
PlayStation or Xbox: complete the second redemption
For a PlayStation or Xbox V-Bucks card, Epic generates a secondary code after the Epic-side step. Redeem that code through the linked Sony or Microsoft account. Epic says the secondary code is 12 characters for PlayStation and 25 characters for Xbox.

If the platform rejects it, retrieve the code from your Epic account transactions and verify that you are using the platform account linked to the correct Epic account. If it still fails, contact PlayStation or Xbox support: that follow-up redemption is processed by the platform. Epic’s secondary-code help page covers this step.
If the V-Bucks balance is missing
Sign into Fortnite on the platform where you redeemed the secondary code, then confirm that Fortnite is using the Epic account you intended. If the balance still is not visible, check whether the platform is connected to a different Epic account. Epic’s missing V-Bucks guidance directs players to verify the platform and Epic account used.

If a V-Bucks card still says invalid
Check the PIN again, including similar-looking characters, and make sure you are using the V-Bucks card flow. Epic Games Support says: “If the code is entered correctly and still shows as invalid, the card has not been properly activated.” Contact the retailer that sold the card and keep the receipt; Epic’s invalid V-Bucks card guidance identifies retailer activation as a possible cause.
If the error mentions country or region
Compare the country or region associated with the card and the relevant Epic, PlayStation, or Microsoft account. Epic explains that a country-specific code cannot be redeemed when its country does not match the country set on the Epic account. It also says your Epic account country should reflect where you live; do not change it merely to redeem a card from another country.

Use the support route that matches the error: contact the retailer for a card-region problem, or the console provider when the error concerns the PlayStation or Microsoft account’s country. If the redemption page is stuck
If you cannot choose a platform or move past the code-entry step, Epic suggests trying an incognito browser session, signing in with the correct account credentials, and disabling ad blockers.
