What happens when your membership ends?
PlayStation Support says that when a PlayStation Plus subscription ends, members lose access to Plus benefits, including Monthly Games, online storage and online multiplayer. PlayStation’s Sweden membership guide says access to Monthly Games returns when a member purchases a new membership. Canceling renewal is not the same as losing access immediately
If you turn off automatic renewal, your membership benefits continue until the end of the period you have already paid for. Access ends after that subscription period expires, not simply when you cancel the next renewal. PlayStation Support: How to cancel PlayStation Plus

Monthly Games, catalog games and purchases are different

Catalog games can disappear before your membership does
For a Game Catalog or Classics Catalog title, an active subscription is only one part of the requirement. Your tier must include that catalog, and the specific game must still be offered. If PlayStation removes a title while you are subscribed, catalog access to it ends even though your membership remains active. What happens to DLC and add-ons?
DLC and add-ons for a catalog game depend on access to the base game. PlayStation says they become unavailable if your membership expires or the game leaves the catalog. Access can return if you resubscribe or buy the game outright. PlayStation Support: add-on and DLC support
How to check why a particular game is locked
- Identify how you got it. Was it claimed as a Monthly Game, downloaded from the Game Catalog or Classics Catalog, or purchased from the Store? A discounted purchase is not the same as a game claimed at no extra cost.
- Check the membership dates. If you canceled renewal, confirm whether the paid period has actually ended. Benefits continue until its end.
- Check your tier and the game’s status. A catalog download needs a tier that includes that catalog, and the title must not have left the service.
- Check whether the locked item is the game or its add-on. Catalog DLC follows the availability of the game and the relevant subscription access.
- For a Monthly Game, restore membership if you want to play it again. PlayStation says Monthly Game access returns with a new membership; if it remains locked, consult support for your country and account.
Keep the game permanently by purchasing it
If you want access independent of a PlayStation Plus subscription, purchase the game separately from the PlayStation Store or another legitimate seller. A game purchased at a Plus discount remains yours; merely claiming a Monthly Game or downloading a catalog title does not convert it into a purchase.
