The simplest officially documented way to play Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike today is Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, which includes the game on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Capcom lists arcade, training, local-versus, and online features for the collection; a local arcade cabinet or third-party matchmaking app may also suit you, but availability and current online activity are not established by those listings.

The collection contains 12 games, including Street Fighter III, Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Capcom announced releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on May 30, 2018. Its current product materials and regional storefronts may differ in format or availability, so confirm the listing for your platform and region before buying. Capcom’s PC listing describes the product as a Steam key and says activation requires a Steam account and an internet connection. It lists Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 11, 6 GB of storage, and support for XInput and DirectInput USB controllers, including arcade sticks. Modes and online features
Capcom identifies Third Strike as one of four games in the collection with online play and training mode. The collection’s described modes include offline Arcade Mode, local Versus Mode, and Training Mode for those four games. Online options include Online Arcade, ranked and casual matches, and lobbies for up to four players. Subscription requirements vary by platform
The PlayStation Store listing says PS Plus is required for online play. Nintendo’s Switch listing indicates online play for two to four players and points to Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo also lists the game as supported on Switch 2, while noting that behavior may vary from Switch. Check the current platform listing and membership terms for your region. Regional editions can have different details. Capcom Japan’s FAQ, for example, describes the Japanese PS4 International edition as including Japanese and overseas versions of the 12 games, with online-enabled versions drawn from the overseas versions, including Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. When an arcade cabinet makes sense
The original arcade release remains an option if you can find a working cabinet at a nearby arcade, barcade, or fighting-game event. Whether one is available depends on your location and on venues’ current machines and schedules; no particular location or current cabinet availability is confirmed here. Check directly with local venues or event organizers before making a trip.
What to know about Fightcade
Fightcade describes itself as an online retro-game matchmaking application bundled with emulators. That description does not establish whether it supports a particular Third Strike setup, how many people are playing now, or how its matches perform. Nor does it establish the lawful source of game files or resolve game-specific licensing questions. Capcom documents online features for the collection, while Fightcade presents itself as a general retro-game matchmaking service. The available information does not show which currently has more opponents, shorter waits, or better connections; those conditions can change over time.

An arcade stick is optional, not a requirement for the collection. Capcom’s PC listing says XInput and DirectInput USB gamepads and arcade sticks are supported. Before buying or connecting a stick, check that its mode and platform compatibility match the edition you plan to use; the PC support statement does not confirm compatibility for every console or every accessory.
