Is the Xbox Series X on sale right now?
No current retailer offer or inventory was confirmed in the available listings. Microsoft’s US product page displayed $799.99 for the 1TB Carbon Black Series X with disc drive when accessed October 4, 2026, but Microsoft notes that prices and availability may vary by retailer. That displayed price is not proof of the lowest current market price.
Microsoft’s console catalog also showed conflicting availability signals: a 1TB Series X listing at $799.99, a certified-refurbished listing at $649.99, and a separate result indicating listings were sold out. What was the reported $600 offer?
Kotaku Deals reported on December 23, 2025, that Amazon had an Xbox Series X bundle for $600, compared with a stated reference price of $650—an 8% discount by that comparison. The post described a wireless controller in the bundle and a console with 1TB of built-in storage. This is historical deal reporting; it does not show that the bundle remains available. The available sources do not include independent price-history data establishing that $600 was an all-time low. Nor do they establish that Microsoft was clearing out consoles. Treat “all-time low” and “clearance” as unverified descriptions, not confirmed current facts.

Microsoft cautions that prices and availability may vary by retailer. These are displayed figures, not verified market lows. A certified-refurbished listing is also not equivalent to a new console; compare condition, included items, and the seller’s terms separately.
How to judge a Series X deal
- Match the model: Confirm storage capacity and whether the console has a disc drive or is digital-only.
- Check the condition: Distinguish new from certified refurbished.
- Verify the bundle: Identify included controllers or other items rather than assuming an accessory is part of the offer.
- Confirm checkout price and stock: Retailer listings can change; check availability and final price on the live listing.
- Be cautious with “all-time low”: A dated deal post and a reference price alone do not establish a record-low price history.
Does the Series X need an expansion card?
No. Microsoft lists a Series X|S Storage Expansion Card as an optional accessory sold separately. It plugs into the console’s dedicated expansion port and is designed to match the console’s custom SSD performance. Microsoft’s Series X product page
