The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition includes the base game and both major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. If you already own the base game, check your game library and platform account before buying again: CD PROJEKT RED says existing owners can get both expansions by updating the game. For new purchases, choose the version listed for your platform and confirm upgrade eligibility with that platform’s store.
What does The Witcher 3 Complete Edition include?
The Complete Edition bundles the base game with the two major expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD PROJEKT RED says expansion content has been merged into the base game. The publisher’s edition FAQ says the standalone expansions have been delisted and the Complete Edition replaced the standalone base game on affected storefronts.
This change does not mean every prior purchase disappears. The publisher says players who already owned either expansion keep it in their library, and that the expansions’ content is patched into the base game. Availability and purchase options can differ by platform and storefront, so check the listing for the account you plan to use.
Do you need to buy the expansions separately?
If you already own the base game
CD PROJEKT RED says current base-game owners are entitled to both expansions at no extra cost. Update the game to its latest version; the publisher’s FAQ says, “Simply update the game to the latest version to install Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.” The FAQ specifically says PS4 and Xbox One owners can download both expansions for free. On other platforms, verify the entitlement and update route in your library or platform store.

If you own one or both expansions already
The publisher says previously owned expansions remain in the player’s library. As their content is merged into the base game, update the game rather than buying the Complete Edition again just to access that content.
If you own neither the game nor the expansions
Look for the Complete Edition on your intended platform. The publisher says it replaced the standalone base game on affected storefronts; its FAQ also says arrangements on previous-generation consoles otherwise remain unchanged, with both expansions available to download for free. Because storefront listings and upgrade eligibility depend on platform and account, confirm the exact offer before checkout.

Which platform or version should you choose?
CD PROJEKT RED announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered for September 29, 2026. Its current FAQ identifies PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as current-generation platforms. The publisher’s September 29 release notice says the Remastered update is available on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and describes it as a free upgrade for owners.

The August 25, 2026 announcement described free upgrades for owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and pre-purchase availability on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2 before launch. That was pre-release wording; for current availability, use the later release notice and the live store listing rather than treating the announcement’s status as current.

Will your saves, progression, and achievements carry over?
CD PROJEKT RED’s FAQ says save files remain compatible, Cross Progression continues to function, and achievements and trophies remain unaffected, including expansion achievements. It also says the expansions can still be started separately from the main menu. This does not establish that every platform-to-platform save transfer is supported: the publisher’s My Rewards page describes cross-platform progression but does not specify every possible platform pairing. Check the game’s account and platform requirements for the particular transfer you want to make.

What to verify before you buy
- Check whether the account you will play on already owns the base game or either expansion.
- Search the store for your exact platform and confirm whether the listing is the Complete Edition or an eligible Remastered update.
- If you own the game already, check your library and update options before paying for another copy.
- For a disc, regional account, or retailer purchase, confirm eligibility with the platform store; the publisher’s general notices do not spell out every such case.
- Do not rely on a price, sale, stock level, or physical-versus-digital availability without checking the live listing; these vary by region, retailer, and time.
