Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To run a 24/7 YouTube study beats radio stream with one static image, prepare a rights-cleared audio-and-image feed, send it from an encoder to YouTube Live Control Room, test the preview, then start and monitor the stream. YouTube requires an eligible channel, and first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before launch. The steps below cover a do-it-yourself encoder setup and a cloud option that does not depend on a computer at home.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s minimum age for live streaming is 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- Study-beats audio and a static image that you have the rights to use for continuous live streaming.
- An encoder: software running on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. YouTube lists OBS among encoders supporting HLS output; a basic setup can use an encoder compatible with YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS ingest. YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- A stable upload connection and a plan to monitor the stream. A test lowers setup risk but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation for 24 hours a day.
Set up the live stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a live stream, then fill in its title, description, audience setting, and other event details.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the stream key like a password: it lets the encoder send a feed to your channel, so do not publish or share it.
- For a scheduled event, YouTube advises preparing at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. For a 24/7 stream, use that as preflight guidance, not as a guarantee of continuous uptime. YouTube’s live-stream tips.
Build the static-image audio feed
Set the encoder to show your chosen still image while continuously playing the study-beats program. Use an image you are authorized to broadcast; a static visual does not change the rights obligations for the music. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not prescribe a special format or ideal resolution specifically for a still-image music stream. Choose a resolution your encoder and connection can sustain, then use YouTube’s current recommendations as the baseline.
Make sure the encoder continues sending video frames as well as audio. A single image can remain visually unchanged, but the encoder must keep the live feed active. If you are assembling a long playlist, check that playback advances as intended and that the audio does not stop when one file ends.
Configure encoder settings
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Its encoder documentation lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds). For stereo audio, YouTube’s guidance is 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps bitrate. Select a combination your encoder and upload connection can sustain reliably, and run a speed test before going live. YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Setting | YouTube guidance | How to apply it |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS recommended | Select the secure YouTube server URL in the encoder if supported. |
| Video encoding | H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 listed | Use a codec supported by both the encoder and selected ingest workflow. |
| Rate control | CBR | Set a constant target bitrate rather than a variable-rate mode. |
| Keyframes | 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds | Set the encoder’s keyframe interval accordingly. |
| Stereo audio | 44.1 kHz; 128 Kbps | Use these as YouTube’s general stereo recommendations. |
| H.264, 1080p30 video bitrate | 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended | These are YouTube’s published encoder figures, not measured requirements for a still-image radio program. |
| AV1 or H.265, 1080p30 video bitrate | 4 Mbps minimum; 10 Mbps recommended | These are YouTube’s published encoder figures, not measured requirements for a still-image radio program. |
A still image has little visual motion, but do not treat that as proof that a lower setting will work in every encoder or for every connection. YouTube’s published bitrate figures are general encoder guidance; stability depends on the actual feed and network.
When HLS is relevant
YouTube also supports HLS ingestion. Its HLS setup uses HTTPS URLs, TS segments, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and segment durations of 1–4 seconds. YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP. Choose HLS when your encoder or codec workflow calls for it; a simple study radio stream does not need it by default. Test, start, and monitor the stream
- Start the encoder while the stream is still private or scheduled, then wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview for the static image, stable audio, and correct event. Test with audio and any transitions similar to what the real stream will use.
- Use Live Control Room’s stream-health and quality indicators to catch problems before launch. YouTube’s advice is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
- Start the live event when the preview and audio are correct. During the broadcast, monitor the encoder, connection, and YouTube stream status; a continuous broadcast has no automatic protection against local power or network failure unless your chosen setup provides it.
- If you keep a local archive, YouTube’s tips recommend checking that the archive file continues to grow.
Clear music and image rights before broadcasting
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for rights on the creator: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” YouTube Terms of Service.
Do not assume that crediting an artist, finding a track in a library, or having permission for ordinary uploads also grants the rights needed for continuous live use. Check the license for both the sound recording and the underlying composition, and confirm it covers live broadcasts, intended territories, archived playback, and monetization if applicable. The required permissions depend on the assets and license; there is no single universal checklist that establishes rights for every stream.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may replace a stream with a placeholder, warn the creator, interrupt or terminate the broadcast, and apply claims to an archived stream after the event. Even a license may not prevent interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. For licensed third-party content, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add the channel to its allowlist. YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

A software encoder gives you control over the feed and can use a computer you already own, but the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection all need to remain available. A standalone hardware encoder avoids relying on a general-purpose computer, but it still depends on power, connectivity, and your ability to monitor or recover it. YouTube supports both routes; neither route alone guarantees uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
