There is no confirmed way to pair or track PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers with Steam Frame in the official documentation reviewed. Valve documents Steam Frame’s own controllers, while Sony’s published PSVR2 pairing steps are for a Windows PC—not Steam Frame.
Does Steam Frame support PSVR 2 Sense controllers?
Valve’s Steam Frame documentation describes the headset’s Frame Controllers and their input bindings; it does not provide PSVR2 Sense controller pairing or tracking instructions. Sony’s documentation likewise does not establish direct PSVR2 Sense support on Steam Frame. Do not treat generic Bluetooth pairing or SteamVR game-input compatibility as proof that the controllers will connect or be tracked.
Valve says SteamVR uses a Frame Controller binding by default. If one is unavailable, it checks for an OpenXR Generic Controller binding and then an Oculus Touch binding, remapping those layouts to Frame Controllers. Those are game-input binding fallbacks, not confirmation that Steam Frame can pair with or track PSVR2 Sense controllers. Valve’s Steam Frame controller documentation
Why Sony’s Windows pairing steps are different
Sony’s PSVR2 PC setup requires the PlayStation VR2 App and lists Steam, SteamVR, the PSVR2 headset, Sense controllers, and the PSVR2 PC Adapter. A Bluetooth adapter is needed only when the Windows PC does not have Bluetooth. How to pair PSVR 2 controllers with a Windows PC
These are Sony’s published PC instructions only; they do not enable or verify Steam Frame pairing.
- Install Steam, SteamVR, and the PlayStation VR2 App on the Windows PC.
- Put the left Sense controller into pairing mode by holding PS and Create until its status indicator blinks. For the right controller, hold PS and Options until its indicator blinks.
- Open Windows Bluetooth settings, search for each controller, and select it to complete pairing.
- Keep the PlayStation VR2 App installed after initial setup. If connection or tracking problems arise, Sony points users to its Bluetooth adapter guidance and notes that results can depend on the Bluetooth devices and surrounding environment.
What remains unknown
The official sources reviewed do not say whether a future Steam Frame software update or a community-built workaround will add direct PSVR2 Sense pairing or tracking. Valve describes Steam Frame as a standalone VR headset with SteamVR and OpenXR compatibility, but that general platform compatibility does not establish support for these controllers.
