Secret Lair drops are curated releases of Magic: The Gathering cards sold through official online storefronts. They are generally available for a limited time, and most are limited print runs—but each product listing sets the actual sale window, stock terms, editions, contents, and purchase limit. After ordering, treat the estimated release date as a planning reference, not a delivery promise: official guidance allows up to three weeks for an order to ship after that date, while a separate preorder explainer describes a shipping stage of up to 30 days from release.
How Secret Lair drop availability works
Secret Lair describes a drop as an exclusive, limited-time selection of unique cards, usually four to eight. Most drops are printed in limited runs, according to the official About page. Wizards announced a shift away from print-to-demand for most of the line in 2024, while allowing for exceptions; that history does not establish the terms of any particular release. Check the product page for the current terms.
Check the individual listing before buying
The listing is the authority for that drop’s sale window, contents, foil or non-foil editions, quantity limit, and availability. Some listings use language such as “available while supplies last.” Terms can differ between releases, so neither a limited-time sale nor a past print policy is enough to predict whether a particular drop is still available.
If a listing is no longer available, do not assume it will return or predict when it might sell out. The available evidence is the listing’s own sale and stock language; check the live store page for the current status.

What happens after you place an order
- Save the confirmation email. It includes your order ID and estimated release date, which is the reference point for official shipping guidance. Keep it until the order arrives. Order Management FAQ
- Check the production and shipping tracker. The Production and Shipping Status page defines the order stages:
- Pre-Production: The manufacturer is preparing production.
- In Production: Production is underway.
- Preparing for Fulfillment: Production is complete, and items are moving to the fulfillment provider for preparation.
- Shipping: Orders are being shipped to customers.
- Shipping Completed: All orders are with the carrier and en route.
- Use the right shipping window. The Shipping, Delivery, and Customs FAQ says an order can take up to three weeks to ship after the estimated release date in the confirmation email. A separate preorder explainer describes the shipping stage as taking up to 30 days from release and notes that international shipments can take longer. The sources use different reference points; neither window promises a delivery date.
- Follow tracking and support guidance. The preorder explainer says a tracking link is sent to the email on file when a shipping label is created. Tracking may initially show no movement. It advises contacting customer support if tracking is still absent after 30 days from release. Check the tracker as well, since it carries drop-level estimates and notices.
Shipping options, destinations, and customs
Split shipping for different release dates
If an order contains drops or bundles with different release dates, split shipping may be offered. When available, the option appears in the Shipping section at checkout alongside estimated release dates. Check there rather than assuming all items will arrive together. Free-shipping thresholds vary by store
The official FAQ states free-shipping thresholds of over $99 for US customers (pre-tax and after discounts), over €99 in the EU store, and over £89 in the UK store (after discounts). Confirm that your country is served
The FAQ lists destinations separately for the US, EU, and UK storefronts. The US store serves the United States and specified international destinations, the EU store lists European countries, and the UK store serves the United Kingdom. DDP and DDU affect who pays import charges
DDP means Delivered Duty Paid. For eligible orders under $2,500 placed through the US store and shipped to listed regions, the FAQ says Scalefast collects and pays applicable import fees and customs duties on the customer’s behalf. Under DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid), local customs may instead ask the buyer to pay import fees or duties. Changing, cancelling, or getting help with an order
Address or payment changes
Before a preorder is charged, order management lets buyers update the shipping address or payment method. Changing the address book on an account does not automatically update an existing order. Once payment has been processed or shipping has started, online changes may no longer be possible; contact customer support if you need help. Order Management FAQ
Backorders and cancellations
For a backordered drop, the confirmation email gives an estimated release-date window. The support FAQ says Wizards will email when the date is confirmed; use the status tracker for current updates. Cancellation rules depend on region and order status: the FAQ describes self-service cancellation for an unbilled preorder, says US purchases are final once payment is collected, and describes a 14-day right to withdraw under the cited EU and UK policy. - Card contents, edition, and per-customer quantity limit
- Estimated release date and current tracker status
- Whether split shipping is offered for items with different release dates
- Your store’s shipping threshold and checkout cost
- Destination eligibility and applicable customs treatment
- Cancellation rules for your region and order status
The order confirmation and live status tracker are the best references for the timing of a specific drop. Store terms and estimates can change, so use the current listing and checkout details for availability and regional conditions.
