Native 1,000Hz gaming monitors are no longer hypothetical: LG and Acer announced 24.5-inch Full HD models in 2026. But a larger refresh-rate number does not by itself establish a competitive advantage. For many players, a 500Hz or 600Hz display—or a high-refresh QHD OLED—may be a better fit for their games, PC and image-quality priorities.
The right choice depends on whether you want the highest stated refresh rate, a particular panel and resolution, or a feature such as motion-blur reduction. The comparisons below distinguish native rates from overclocked and resolution-dependent modes; manufacturer specifications are not independent tests of real-world performance.
What are the alternatives to a 1,000Hz monitor?
The clearest alternatives in the available product specifications are a 600Hz esports-focused Full HD monitor, 500Hz QHD OLED displays, and a 500Hz Fast IPS model whose top rate is overclocked. They trade some maximum refresh rate for other priorities, including higher resolution or OLED characteristics. The announced 1,000Hz models provide a useful baseline, but local availability and exact regional specifications should be checked before buying.

How much does refresh rate alone tell you?
Refresh rate is how often a display can update its image. At 600Hz, one refresh interval is about 1.67 milliseconds; at 1,000Hz, it is 1 millisecond. Those are arithmetic intervals between refreshes, not measurements of total input latency, a player’s perception, or match results. The specifications here do not establish that moving from 600Hz to 1,000Hz improves competitive outcomes.

A monitor’s maximum refresh rate also does not mean a PC and game will deliver that many frames per second. Dell’s 2026 guide advises matching the target refresh rate to the GPU’s frame output. The practical comparison is therefore between a display’s modes and the frame rates your particular system can sustain in the games you play, not just the largest number on the box.
Which monitor fits your priorities?
Choose a speed-first Full HD option
The ZOWIE XL2586X+ is the alternative to examine if you want a very high stated refresh rate without moving to 1,000Hz. ZOWIE describes it as a Fast-TN esports monitor with DyAc 2, and says its 600Hz rate needs no overclocking. Its FHD resolution and panel type are part of the trade-off; whether its motion handling or image characteristics suit you is a personal decision, not something settled by the rate alone.

The LG 25G590B and Acer XB253Q U1 are not slower alternatives: both companies announced 24.5-inch FHD displays at 1,000Hz in 2026. LG identifies its model as IPS and cites Motion Blur Reduction Pro; Acer lists VRB Pro, FreeSync Premium, G-SYNC Compatible and DisplayHDR 400. These are manufacturer-published specifications and feature claims, not independent comparative results. Verify current local availability and regional model details.
Choose QHD OLED at 500Hz
Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF and MSI’s MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50 offer a different balance: QHD resolution and QD-OLED panels at 500Hz. Samsung lists its G60SF at 27 inches, while MSI lists its model at 26.5 inches; both publish a 0.03ms GTG response-time figure. Those manufacturer figures should not be treated as directly comparable independent measurements, nor as a guarantee of perceived response. Samsung also lists G-SYNC Compatible, FreeSync Premium Pro and OLED Safeguard+ features. Check local listings for availability, price and warranty terms.

Consider the overclocked 500Hz IPS option
Dell’s 2026 guide lists the Alienware AW2524HF as a 24.5-inch Fast IPS display reaching 500Hz overclocked. Keep the overclock qualification in view when comparing it with the ZOWIE’s stated 600Hz without overclocking or a monitor’s native rate. Dell’s guide is the source for this product comparison, not an independent evaluation of which model performs best.

A headline maximum may only apply after changing resolution. Acer’s XB273K V7 is listed as UHD at 160Hz, with Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) switching it to FHD at up to 500Hz. That is not the same use case as a monitor operating at its higher refresh rate at UHD. Check the resolution and mode attached to every quoted maximum before comparing displays.

What to check before choosing
- Refresh-rate conditions: Is the stated maximum native, overclocked, or available only in a reduced-resolution mode?
- Resolution and frame output: Decide whether FHD or QHD better suits your games, and whether your PC can produce frame rates that make the target useful. Dell’s 2026 guide recommends aligning the target with GPU output.
- Panel and image priorities: Compare the listed Fast-TN, Fast IPS, IPS and QD-OLED options against your preferences; a higher refresh number alone does not resolve those differences.
- Motion and variable-refresh features: Compare the specific features manufacturers list—such as DyAc 2, Motion Blur Reduction Pro, VRB Pro, FreeSync and G-SYNC compatibility—without assuming the names establish equivalent performance.
