Comments from Nintendo executives about unannounced Switch 2 games and the value of remakes are general remarks—not a tease of a specific next Zelda title.
Has Nintendo teased the next Zelda remake?
No specific follow-up Zelda remake has been announced in the official material reviewed as of October 4, 2026. Nintendo has announced the Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time, but the comments sometimes presented as a hint about what comes next do not identify another Zelda game.
What Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said
As reported by GamesRadar, Furukawa said Nintendo had prepared “new titles beyond those already announced” for the second half of its fiscal year and would share details at the appropriate time. He did not name those games or connect them to Zelda. The statement indicates that Nintendo had additional titles planned; it is not evidence that a Zelda remake was among them.
What Shigeru Miyamoto said about remakes
Miyamoto has discussed why Nintendo remakes older games. In comments from a Famitsu interview quoted by TechRadar, he said remakes can give younger players a way to experience older games and that renewed awareness of original games can lead to future developments. He did not name a Zelda game that would follow Ocarina of Time.

When does Ocarina of Time come out on Switch 2?
Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, then confirmed its November 5, 2026 release date in a September anniversary announcement. The game was originally released in 1998, according to Nintendo’s Zelda anniversary announcement.
What is changing in the Switch 2 version?
Nintendo describes this edition as a substantial update to presentation and play. These are announced features, rather than hands-on impressions:

The same Zelda anniversary announcement also covered other products: a LEGO Link & Epona model and a Hasbro electronic Master Sword are expected in spring 2027, while two ocarinas are expected later in 2026. Those announcements are anniversary merchandise, not clues naming a successor remake.
