If the cosmetic came from DLC, claim it first in ITEM > DLC, then equip it in COSTUME.
Change an outfit or glasses
- Open the in-game main menu.
- Select COSTUME.
- Choose the costume, glasses, or other available cosmetic you want to equip.
The official Nihon Falcom web manual identifies COSTUME as the menu for changing costumes, attachments, and hair color. It has separate sections for Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The cited instructions do not specify the button or key for opening the menu, so use the in-game controls for your platform rather than assuming a particular input.
Claim DLC cosmetics before equipping them
Downloading cosmetic DLC from a platform store installs it, but that alone does not add the items to your usable cosmetic list. The manual says downloaded DLC appears under ITEM’s DLC tab and must be used there to obtain the items.
- Download the cosmetic DLC from your platform’s store, if you do not already own it.
- In the game, open ITEM and select the DLC tab.
- Select the newly added DLC and choose the option to use it.
- Open COSTUME and equip the cosmetic you claimed.
The Nintendo listing for the 1st Chapter Costume Set and the PlayStation listing both direct players to equip obtained items through COSTUME. Store availability and bundle details may differ by platform and region.

Glasses DLC examples
Nintendo’s official Glasses Set A listing names three designs: Navy Blue Glasses, Large-Framed Glasses, and XL Star Party Glasses. It lists 14 of each design. These are quantities included in that DLC listing, not a count of glasses available throughout the game.
A separate Glasses Set B listing exists for Nintendo Switch, but its complete contents are not established here. Do not assume it contains the same designs or quantities as Set A.

Costume DLC and duplicate purchases
The Nintendo listing for the 1st Chapter Costume Set describes looks including mascot and classic-style outfits for Estelle and Joshua, swimsuits, a Jenis Royal Academy Uniform Set, and diner costume sets. That listing gives a release date of September 24, 2026, and says the set is included in the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Season Pass or can be purchased separately. These details apply to that listing and may vary by region or platform. Check your store’s bundle contents before buying: Nintendo warns that purchasing DLC already included in a Season Pass would duplicate the content. The listing also identifies Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter as required to use the DLC.

What if a costume is missing?
- DLC cosmetic: Check ITEM > DLC and use the downloaded content to claim its items, then look in COSTUME.
- Story-unlocked or other non-DLC costume: COSTUME is the menu for changing cosmetics, but the available official instructions cited here do not establish each outfit’s unlock condition or where it appears. Check in-game notices or a game-specific guide for that outfit.
