Owlboy is available on Steam for Windows, macOS, and SteamOS + Linux. On a PC or Mac, install it through the Steam client: get the game, open it in your Library, select Install, then launch it after the download finishes. Steam lists minimum system requirements for all three operating-system groups, but SteamOS + Linux support alone does not confirm that Owlboy is currently Steam Deck Verified or Playable.
Where to get Owlboy
Steam lists D-Pad Studio as Owlboy’s developer and publisher, with a release date of November 1, 2016. The store describes it as “a story-driven platform adventure game, where you can fly and explore a brand new world in the clouds!” You can find the official game page at Steam’s Owlboy store listing.
How to install Owlboy on PC or Mac
- Install the Steam client from Steam, or open it if it is already installed.
- Sign in to your Steam account and acquire Owlboy from its store listing.
- In the Steam client, open Library, select Owlboy, and choose Install.
- When the download finishes, select Play from the game’s Library page.
These are standard Steam-client steps; labels and screens may change as Steam updates its interface. Before installing on a Mac, compare your system with the macOS requirements below. Steam’s listing names macOS as supported but does not specify Apple Silicon compatibility or confirm results for particular Mac models or current macOS releases.
Owlboy system requirements
Steam lists the following minimum requirements and 600 MB of storage for each platform group. These are the published minimums, not a guarantee of performance on every device.

Steam notes separately that its client supports Windows 10 and later as of January 1, 2024. That client requirement is distinct from Owlboy’s older displayed Windows minimum list; check Steam’s current client requirements as well as the game requirements if you are using an older Windows installation. The official requirements are on Owlboy’s Steam page.
Will Owlboy work on Steam Deck?
Steam lists a SteamOS + Linux version, but that does not establish a Steam Deck compatibility rating. The official Deck classification and device-specific performance are not confirmed here, so do not assume the game is Verified or Playable based on the Linux listing alone. Check the live Owlboy store page or the compatibility details shown on your Deck before buying or installing if the rating matters to you. No particular Proton setting or performance result is established.

Controller support and help
Steam says “SDL_GameController devices fully supported” for the macOS and SteamOS + Linux requirements. This is a note about optional controller support on those platforms; it does not mean a controller is required or confirm support for a particular model.
For game-specific technical problems, Steam’s support information points to D-Pad Studio at [email protected] and its customer-support website. Steam also links community forums and guides, which are community resources rather than verified technical instructions.
