The company promoted them for mainstream notebook graphics, gaming, HD movie playback, and GPU-accelerated tasks—but the launch performance figures were NVIDIA claims, not independently verified benchmarks.
What NVIDIA announced
HotHardware reported the announcement on January 8, 2009. NVIDIA described the GeForce 100M Series as a family for mainstream notebooks and named three launch models: the GeForce G105M, GeForce G110M, and GeForce GT 130M. Read the launch report.
The announcement promoted the GPUs for viewing and editing photos, gaming, and HD movie playback. NVIDIA also highlighted CUDA for GPU-accelerated work such as distributed computing, game physics, and video conversion, as well as PhysX and stereoscopic 3D. Those are NVIDIA’s stated capabilities and use cases, not independent evaluations of how well a particular notebook performed them.
What NVIDIA claimed about performance
NVIDIA compared each highlighted model with a different predecessor product. These percentages are not a shared benchmark ranking across the three GPUs.

The percentages should be read as historical vendor comparisons, not as current performance results or evidence that one of these models is faster than another. NVIDIA’s FY2009 filing includes the G105M and G110M comparisons in its company reporting: NVIDIA FY2009 Form 10-K.
Which GPUs appear in later 100M-series support records?
The three models in the January launch report are not the whole family listed in a later driver record. NVIDIA’s legacy 186.03 notebook driver page lists the GTS 160M, GT 130M, GT 120M, G 110M, G 105M, G 103M, and G 102M. It is a historical compatibility record, not proof that every notebook containing one of those GPUs works with that release or receives modern driver support. NVIDIA notes notebook-specific and OEM support caveats on the GeForce Release 186, 186.03 page.

Can a GeForce 100M GPU be installed as an upgrade?
The series name does not establish that a GPU is a replaceable card or that a part will fit a particular notebook. The available driver record does not identify compatible replacement parts. A repair or upgrade decision depends on the exact laptop model and its service documentation; without those details, compatibility cannot be determined.
