Honkai: Star Rail’s guaranteed 5-star Warp counters carry over between banners of the same type, but they do not combine across types. Character Event Warp pulls count toward the Character Event Warp counter; Light Cone Event Warp pulls count toward the Light Cone Event Warp counter. If you changed categories, you were looking at separate counters—not one shared total.
Which Warp counters carry over?
HoYoverse says the cumulative count toward a guaranteed 5-star character carries between Character Event Warps. The cumulative count toward a guaranteed 5-star Light Cone carries between Light Cone Event Warps. Each counter is independent of other Warp types.
The official Version 3.3 Event Warp: Part I notice, published May 20, 2025, states that the Character Event Warp count carries between Character Event Warps, and the Light Cone Event Warp count carries to other Light Cone Event Warps. It explicitly says each is independent of other types of Warps.
Why can a banner change look like a reset?
You switched Warp categories
A Character Event Warp and a Light Cone Event Warp do not share a counter. Pulls on one do not add to the guaranteed 5-star count for the other, so totals from the two categories cannot be combined to estimate a single counter.

A change in banner name, featured character, Light Cone, or event phase does not by itself mean the counter reset. HoYoverse’s Version 3.3 notice establishes carry-over by Warp category, while its Version 3.7 Event Warp: Phase II notice, published November 25, 2025 gives examples: Ripples Rejoined and Indelible Coterie shared the Character Event Warp counter; Brilliant Fixation and Coalesced Truths shared the Light Cone Event Warp counter.
How to check whether you are comparing the right banners

Open the Warp screen and identify the category of the banner you pulled on and the banner you are checking now: Character Event Warp or Light Cone Event Warp.

Compare only banners in the same category. Character Event Warps share their guaranteed 5-star character counter with other Character Event Warps; Light Cone Event Warps share their guaranteed 5-star Light Cone counter with other Light Cone Event Warps.

Check the counter shown in the current Warp screen for your account. The cited notices establish the carry-over rule, but do not provide your personal counter or a way to reconstruct it from a missing history entry.

Does missing Warp History mean pity was lost?
Not on the evidence of the official notices cited here. They explain which counters carry over, but do not say how long Warp History remains visible or whether a missing entry changes the counter. A missing history entry alone therefore cannot establish that pity reset, nor does this evidence establish why a particular pull is absent. Use the current Warp screen’s displayed counter to check your account rather than treating the visible log as the counter itself.
