The Bungulators rallied around TheBurntPeanut; FMF was HutchMF’s side. It began with a player downing HutchMF and invoking the Bungulators, then grew into a public-match hunt for opponents—not an official game mode or organized esports tournament.
What started the Bungulators vs. FMF rivalry?
Contemporary accounts trace the spark to a player who downed HutchMF in a raid and said “for the Bungulators.” HutchMF shared the clip and responded, “This means war!!” PC Gamer’s November 21, 2025 report describes how that exchange turned into a running community rivalry.
The language of war was part of the bit: players were still meeting through normal matchmaking and fighting in the extraction shooter’s raids. There was no developer-created war mode or official esports competition.
Who were the Bungulators and FMF?
The Bungulators
The Bungulators were associated with streamer TheBurntPeanut and his “Bungulator” persona. The name became a banner for his followers and other participants, rather than a formal team with a fixed membership.
FMF and other participants
HutchMF’s side went by FMF. Other streamers and their audiences joined the rivalry, while xQc’s viewers were described as a neutral blue faction. These labels and reported lineups were loose community affiliations, not official rosters. AllThings.How’s explainer of the rivalry recounts the informal factions; PC Gamer also reported on participants and faction signals in its coverage of the streamer conflict.

What did the outfits signify?
Players used in-game gear as visible faction signals. Reporting associated Striker gear with the Bungulators, Torpedo with FMF, and Origin with xQc’s neutral camp. These were choices of in-game cosmetics—not evidence of physical faction uniforms or official team equipment. Embark describes outfits and related items as cosmetics available through Raider Tokens on its official site.
How did the showdown end?
Because there was no private server arranged for the event, participants had to find opponents in public matchmaking. PC Gamer reported players entering Blue Gate and other maps hoping to encounter the rival faction. On November 23, 2025, TheBurntPeanut declared a sweeping Bungulator victory, according to PC Gamer’s finale report.

That was the community’s declared result, not a tournament outcome: there was no formal bracket or reliable event scoring system. The available coverage does not establish a verified participant or viewership total for the rivalry.
Is the faction war still happening, and what are the rules now?
The faction labels and reported streamer lineup belong to the November 2025 story. They should not be taken as evidence that a coordinated war is still active. Current rule guidance is a separate matter: in an official September 30, 2026 update, Embark said it targets pre-arranged queue teaming in solo lobbies as unfair play, while allowing players to team up with someone they meet during a raid through proximity chat.

Embark also reported 85% fewer players engaging in the detected queue-teaming behavior five days after it began separating known teaming groups. That is the developer’s measurement of the behavior it detected after that intervention; it does not establish how often all teaming occurs or determine whether any particular encounter during the 2025 rivalry was pre-arranged.
What matchmaking does—and does not—promise
Embark’s matchmaking notes say there are no PvE-only lobbies that guarantee Raiders will never attack one another, and that loadout does not determine matchmaking. Crossplay changes the matchmaking pool; it does not promise more cooperative encounters. A player can therefore meet strangers who choose to cooperate or fight, but that is different from arranging to enter a solo lobby together in advance.
