Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.3, “The Fall at Dawn’s Rise,” released on May 21, 2025. The reported five-hour maintenance began May 20 at 22:00 UTC and ended May 21 at 03:00 UTC. That midnight crossing explains why a countdown could show May 20 or May 21 depending on the timezone and whether it counted down to maintenance or to the update becoming playable.
When did Honkai: Star Rail 3.3 release?
HoYoverse’s official Version 3.3 Special Program description gave the release date as May 21, 2025. Cognosphere’s May 9 announcement also said the update would launch on Wednesday, May 21. HoYoverse’s Special Program description · Cognosphere’s announcement
This is a historical release date, not a live countdown: Version 3.3 is no longer upcoming.
What time did maintenance end?
Game8’s guide, updated May 20, 2025, reported that maintenance ran from May 20 at 22:00 UTC until May 21 at 03:00 UTC—about five hours. The reported schedule by timezone was:

| Timezone | Maintenance start | Reported end |
|---|---|---|
| PDT | May 20, 3:00 p.m. | May 20, 8:00 p.m. |
| EDT | May 20, 6:00 p.m. | May 20, 11:00 p.m. |

Game8’s maintenance schedule is the source for these exact hours; the official sources cited above confirm the May 21 launch date, not this detailed maintenance window. Maintenance start is downtime, not the time the update becomes available.
Why did countdowns show different dates?
- Timezone: the same instant can fall on May 20 in one region and May 21 in another. The reported schedule itself spans both dates in UTC.
- Countdown target: a timer aimed at maintenance start reaches zero before players can enter the game; one aimed at the reported end points to when downtime was expected to finish.
- Clock display: a page may convert to the visitor’s device timezone or show a fixed timezone. Check the label rather than comparing an unlabeled hour.
What was included in Version 3.3?
The update was titled “The Fall at Dawn’s Rise” and brought the story to a climax, alongside playable characters Hyacine and Cipher, according to Cognosphere’s May 9 announcement. On release day, the publisher said the first-phase event warps featured Hyacine and The Herta, with the announced event period ending June 11, 2025 in server time. Those banners and dates are historical context; the event period has passed. Cognosphere’s release-day announcement

Game8 reported that players who were above Trailblaze Level 4 before the downtime were eligible for 300 Stellar Jade compensation. This was a one-time maintenance compensation associated with the 2025 update, not an offer currently claimable.
