As of October 4, 2026, there is no official GTA VI PC version or PC hardware requirement to build around. Rockstar currently lists the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with November 19, 2026 shown as the coming date. If your main reason for buying a PC is GTA VI, wait for Rockstar to announce PC availability and publish requirements. Any PC bought now should be chosen for games you can play today, not assumed GTA VI compatibility.
What PC should you buy for GTA 6?
There is not enough official information to recommend a GTA VI-specific PC or upgrade. Rockstar’s GTA VI page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its support article, last updated August 18, 2026, says pre-orders are for those consoles. The official pages reviewed do not list a PC version or GTA VI PC requirements. That describes what Rockstar currently lists; it does not mean a PC release will never happen.
For now, do not spend extra on a processor, graphics card, memory, storage, or a complete system on the promise that it will run GTA VI. If you also want a PC for other games, choose parts based on those games’ published requirements, your budget, and the resolution and frame rate you want. Treat GTA VI compatibility as unknown.
Why GTA V PC requirements are not a GTA VI parts list
Rockstar has published PC specifications for GTA V Enhanced, but those figures apply to that game only. They cannot establish what GTA VI will require. For example, Rockstar lists the following as GTA V Enhanced recommended specifications:

These are not GTA VI minimums or recommendations. Do not use them to justify a purchase, and do not treat online estimates or GTA V requirements as substitutes for GTA VI specifications. Rockstar’s official GTA VI sources reviewed do not provide PC benchmark figures or hardware requirements.
Check what your current PC has before considering an upgrade
You can inventory your machine now, but that information cannot tell you whether it will run GTA VI until Rockstar publishes requirements. Rockstar’s compatibility help page describes using Windows DirectX Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag):

- Open the Windows Run dialog, enter
dxdiag, and press Enter. - On the System tab, note the operating system, processor, and memory.
- On the Display tab, note the graphics card name, manufacturer, chip type, approximate video memory, and driver version and date.
Keep those details so you can compare them with official GTA VI requirements if a PC version is announced. Rockstar notes that more current drivers are beneficial for PC games, but updating a driver or inspecting your hardware is not a GTA VI compatibility test.
When it makes sense to buy a PC now
Buy now only if the PC has value to you independently of GTA VI. Start with the games you plan to play before GTA VI is available on PC, and use their published requirements rather than speculative GTA VI targets. Set a budget and decide what resolution and frame rate matter to you; do not pay for a more expensive part based on an unverified promise of future performance.

- If you already own a PC, record its components before replacing anything.
- If one of your current games runs poorly, identify whether the relevant limitation is actually the CPU, GPU, memory, or another part before upgrading.
- If you need a whole PC for current games, compare complete systems against those games’ requirements and your upgrade plans.
- If the only goal is GTA VI on PC, postpone the purchase until Rockstar confirms a PC version and publishes requirements.
How to choose parts once GTA VI PC requirements are official
When Rockstar publishes requirements, compare them with your current PC and intended use before buying anything. Requirements alone may not establish performance at every resolution or frame rate, so look for reliable testing at the target you care about rather than assuming a higher price guarantees a particular result.
- Check the CPU and GPU. Compare your processor and graphics card with Rockstar’s published minimum and recommended levels.
- Check memory and graphics memory separately. System RAM and GPU VRAM are different resources; compare each with the stated requirement.
- Match the purchase to your target. Use resolution and frame-rate guidance only where Rockstar or reliable testing provides evidence for that target.
- Price the whole decision. Compare the cost of a complete PC with the cost of an upgrade, and account for whether your existing system can support the new part.
- Replace only what you need. If your current PC meets the relevant requirements except for one component, consider whether a compatible single-part upgrade is sufficient instead of replacing the entire system.
Until those official details exist, no particular GTA VI PC, graphics card, processor, memory kit, or SSD can be recommended as confirmed compatible.
