Start with the built-in controls and visibility options, then use Edit Mode to arrange and save your HUD. Treat graphics choices as personal preferences: the available guide describes SD and HD character models but does not establish a universally better option or a performance winner. Because these are beta-era settings, labels and behavior may change between updates.
1. Set controls and everyday behavior
Open Settings and consider these options in light of how you play. The recommendations below describe trade-offs, not mandatory “best” settings. The September 2026 Mobalytics settings guide is a third-party guide and frames its advice in the beta context.

2. Make combat information easier to read
Use the built-in display options to surface information that matters to your role and screen layout. The Mobalytics guide describes these areas; try them in play rather than assuming one arrangement suits every character.
- Health and resources: Display both percentages and numeric values if you find either format useful. Personal resource displays can also keep key information near your character.
- Group frames: Options described include power bars, class colors, and indicators for dispellable debuffs in raid frames. Enable the cues that help you make decisions without overcrowding the screen.
- Target visibility: Silhouette visibility when characters or objects are obscured, plus target-of-target display, can help in busy encounters.
- Mouseover and click casting: Built-in click casting can be configured for nameplates and the player HUD. Check that your bindings match the spells and actions you intend to use.
- Cooldowns and nameplates: Explore the cooldown manager for cooldown and timer visibility, and configure nameplates to highlight important casts when that is useful to you.
These native features are useful places to start before adding interface modifications, but the guide does not establish that they replace every add-on use case.

3. Arrange and save your HUD in Edit Mode
The Wowhead HUD guide is labeled patch 1.60.1. Its documented route is to open the Game Menu (default key Esc) and choose Edit Mode. The editor highlights adjustable elements. Select an element to open its submenu, then drag it to reposition it. See the Wowhead Edit Mode guide for its illustrated walkthrough.
- Open the Game Menu with Esc, then select Edit Mode.
- Choose a preset layout as a starting point. Turn on the grid if it helps you align frames and bars.
- Enable snapping to elements while positioning items that should line up with one another.
- Check Advanced Options for additional toggles, including the Stance Bar and Extra Action Button, if an element you need is hidden.
- When the arrangement is ready, create and save a named layout. The guide says layouts may be character-specific and can be shared or imported.
A preset is quicker to begin with; a custom layout takes more adjustment but lets you place elements to suit your screen and play style. If a change appears not to take effect, Mobalytics suggests trying /reload; this is a troubleshooting tip, not a guarantee for every beta build.

4. Choose character models and graphics by preference
The September 2026 Icy Veins graphics guide describes a choice between SD (Classic) and HD (Retail) character models. It says the models can be previewed during character creation and the setting can be changed later; the choice affects player characters and NPCs throughout the world. Compare them in-game and use the look you prefer—the guide does not establish a universal winner.
The guide also describes changes involving volumetric fog, dynamic lighting, and water visuals. It provides no controlled performance tests, benchmark hardware, or measured FPS differences, so no graphics preset can be called the performance or quality winner on this evidence.

If you are adjusting graphics to suit your own hardware, change one option at a time and compare in the same scene. Keep the combination that meets your visual and frame-rate goals; this is a practical way to assess your own setup, not a published benchmark.

- The left and right sticks control movement and camera.
- Controller hotbars replace standard hotbars. The guide describes four bars with eight ability slots each, accessed through button or directional-pad combinations with the triggers; it also notes a tap-trigger option.
- Nearby interactables can be focused, bumpers cycle targets, and the Start button opens menus with radial navigation.
This can suit players who prefer sticks, triggers, and button combinations to direct keyboard-and-mouse input. The guides do not identify a tested controller model or establish compatibility for any named device, so verify an individual controller’s PC compatibility rather than assuming it is supported by this beta client.
