If you’re considering a major Rockstar preorder, GTA VI is the current example: its preorder period is open for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with launch set for November 19, 2026. Preorder only if the confirmed platform, edition, and terms suit you. The key catches: the boxed Standard Edition contains a download code, not a disc, and the digital preorder’s one-month GTA+ offer has a redemption deadline and renews unless canceled.
What are you actually preordering?
Take-Two announced GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 launch. The reviewed official materials do not establish a PC launch date or preorder. Rockstar’s GTA VI page lists the game and directs buyers to its editions and preorder details.
| Option | What it includes | Price and format |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | The base game. | Take-Two announced a US price of $79.99. Available digitally or as a physical code-in-box version; the latter includes no disc. |
| Ultimate Edition | The game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, with added vehicles, weapons, clothing, businesses, and other story-linked content. | Take-Two announced a US price of $99.99. Rockstar says the physical Ultimate Edition is not available; Standard owners can buy the digital upgrade after redeeming their game code. |
These prices are the US amounts in Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement; storefront prices and availability may differ by region. Compare the $20 US difference against the specific extra content you want, rather than assuming Ultimate includes a different way to play.
Does the physical version include a disc?
No. Rockstar describes the physical Standard Edition as code-in-box: the package contains a redeemable digital download code, not a disc. As Rockstar Customer Support puts it, “A disc will not be included in the box.” That means it is not a disc copy you can lend or resell as a game disc.
#1 Best Overall
- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
Rockstar says physical versions are expected to be available for shipping or pickup beginning November 12, 2026, to support preload. The code’s actual availability can depend on the retailer. Digital preload is listed for November 12 at local midnight. Preloading downloads game files; it does not allow play before the November 19 launch.
What preorder bonuses are listed?
Rockstar lists the Vintage Vice City Pack for qualifying preorders and purchases made before November 20, 2026. The pack includes a vehicle and garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. Confirm the offer and its eligibility terms on the store or retailer listing you plan to use.

Digital preorder materials also list one month of GTA+. On the US PlayStation Store, this offer must be redeemed by March 31, 2027, is limited to one redemption per account, and renews monthly at the regular price after the promotional month unless canceled. It is tied to the account used for the preorder, so check which account is placing the order and set a reminder if you do not want a continuing subscription. Do not assume the same terms apply in every region.
What should you check before placing an order?
- Confirm your platform. The announced launch platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you are waiting for a PC version, the reviewed official announcements do not confirm its launch date or preorder.
- Match the code to your account region. Rockstar says activation restrictions depend on platform-account region and recommends buying from a retailer in the country associated with that account. Its support guidance says PlayStation codes have regional groupings, while Xbox codes are not region-locked. Check the listing and the account you will redeem on.
- Read the seller’s cancellation and delivery terms. For orders placed with other retailers, Rockstar directs purchase, refund, and delivery questions to the seller. Check that seller’s terms before paying; Rockstar Store physical preorder cancellations have a separate support route.
- Verify bonus conditions. Check the cutoff date, how a bonus is redeemed, account eligibility, and any subscription renewal terms. A listed promotion is only useful if you can claim it under its actual conditions.
- Decide whether a boxed code works for you. If you specifically want a disc, the physical Standard Edition does not meet that requirement.
Is the collectible part of a game edition?
No. Rockstar lists The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection as a premium, limited-edition collectible set, separate from the game editions. Rockstar’s news listing dated the preorder announcement to September 24, 2026, and marks availability as while supplies last. It is not required to play GTA VI. The reviewed official pages do not establish remaining stock by region or Amazon availability.
