To compare Steelers tight ends, use separate sources for playing time, receiving chances, and red-zone opportunities: check official Steelers receiving totals, a player-level snap table, and individual red-zone targets. Team red-zone totals do not show which tight end got the ball, so treat them as context rather than player usage.
Where to find each Steelers tight end statistic
Receiving totals: Steelers.com
Start with the Steelers official statistics page for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. In the surfaced 2026 regular-season snapshot, Pat Freiermuth had 14 receptions for 125 yards and two receiving touchdowns; Darnell Washington had nine receptions for 119 yards and one touchdown; Robert Tonyan had one reception for two yards and no receiving touchdowns. These are completed receiving results, not targets or red-zone opportunities.
Offensive snaps: player-level snap tables
Pro-Football-Reference’s Steelers 2026 snap-count table reports offensive, defensive, and special-teams snaps and percentages. Its surfaced snapshot showed Freiermuth with 186 offensive snaps (68.63%) and Washington with 178 (65.68%). The site labels snap counts unofficial and says positions reflect the gamebook. These are season-to-date figures from a changing season, not final totals. The table was not directly retrievable in the cited research, so check the official NFL gamebook for the relevant game before relying on a close comparison.
Targets and red-zone opportunities: player-level views
Footballguys’ team statistics navigation provides separate Steelers links for season stats, targets, red zone, game logs, snap counts, and depth chart. Use the specific player-level view you need; the navigation page itself does not establish each view’s definitions or numeric contents.

The Redzone Metrics Pat Freiermuth profile combines snap share, target share, and targets inside the 20. Its captured 2026 snapshot listed two targets inside the 20 and a 13.3% target share. The dashboard attributes data to nflverse and says its red-zone, fantasy, and projection models are built in-house. Treat these as secondary analytics, and confirm the definition and current update before using them as definitive figures.

- Align the time window. Compare the same season weeks or the same games across snaps, targets, and red-zone opportunities. Season-to-date totals become outdated as games are added.
- Keep snaps and targets distinct. Offensive snap share measures how often a player was on the field; targets measure receiving chances. A tight end can play a large share of snaps without drawing many passes.
- Use player-level red-zone data. NFL.com’s Steelers 2026 team statistics surfaced a team red-zone table with 155 pass attempts, 88 completions, 999 passing yards, and seven passing touchdowns. Those are team fields, not a tight end’s share; do not assign them to a player without player-level records.
- Check the red-zone threshold. The dashboard cited above reports targets inside the 20. Do not assume every source uses the same field or includes the same play types.
- Verify important figures against primary records. Use Steelers and NFL statistics and gamebooks when they provide the needed player row. Label unofficial snap tables and secondary analytics accordingly.
For a role comparison, line up offensive snap percentage, total targets or target share, and targets inside the 20 for the same period. Touchdowns show what happened; snaps and targets help describe the opportunities behind those results.
