A touchdown counts, but one score alone does not show that Pat Freiermuth’s fantasy value has changed for the long term. Treat it as one part of the result: check his catches and yards, look at his production over more than one game, then weigh those numbers against your league’s scoring and your other tight-end options.
What Freiermuth’s touchdown says—and what it doesn’t
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ displayed 2026 season line is 14 receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns in four games (Steelers statistics). That confirms he has scored twice so far. It does not establish that he is on a reliable new scoring pace: four games are a short sample, and fantasy points can be lifted by a touchdown even when receiving volume is modest.
The weekly lines illustrate why it helps to separate the score from the rest of the performance. NFL.com lists five catches for 46 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, three catches for 17 yards and a touchdown in Week 4, and two catches for 30 yards without a touchdown in Week 3 (NFL.com game log). The Week 4 score came alongside relatively little yardage; it is a real fantasy contribution, but not by itself evidence of increased opportunity.
Evaluate the underlying production
Check catches and yards alongside the touchdown
Record the score, then ask whether the same game—and the games around it—also show useful reception and yardage volume. Those measures help distinguish a strong all-around receiving performance from one whose fantasy result depended heavily on a touchdown. The cited official lines report receptions, yards, and touchdowns; they do not provide a complete view of targets or every opportunity measure.

Put the current line in season-to-season context
NFL.com lists Freiermuth at 65 receptions, 653 yards, and seven touchdowns in 2024, followed by 41 receptions, 486 yards, and four touchdowns in 2025 (NFL.com career statistics). The changing totals are a reminder that neither receiving volume nor touchdown output should be assumed to carry forward unchanged. Use prior seasons as context, not as a guarantee of what he will do next.
Does one touchdown change whether you should start him?
Not on its own. The official statistics establish what Freiermuth has produced, but they cannot settle a start/sit decision for a specific roster. Apply your league’s scoring rules, compare him with the tight ends you can actually use, and account for your lineup requirements and tolerance for risk. If comparing him with another player, use the same timeframe and scoring format for both; compare receptions and available opportunity data, yards, touchdowns, and recent production against season-long production.

There is no universal fantasy-point total to attach to these lines without specifying the league’s scoring. Reception scoring varies by format, and the sources above document NFL statistics rather than your league’s scoring settings. Calculate his points under your rules before using a touchdown as a reason to change your lineup.

Freiermuth has scored twice in the Steelers’ displayed 2026 line through four games, but that short sample does not prove a lasting rise in value. Count the touchdown as production, then judge it alongside catches, yards, recent volume, season context, and the alternatives available in your league. His selection in the second round, 55th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft is background rather than a current fantasy projection (2025 Steelers media guide).
