Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris are no longer competing for touches in the same backfield: Pittsburgh lists Warren first on its current depth chart, while NFL.com lists Harris with the New York Giants in 2026. Their recent statistics describe different seasons and team situations, so the useful fantasy comparison is about each player’s present opportunity—not an old Steelers-versus-Steelers debate.
Jaylen Warren or Najee Harris for fantasy?
There is no evidence here to support a precise current rest-of-season ranking or points projection. Warren has the clearer Pittsburgh role signal: he is first on the Steelers’ live depth chart. Harris’s relevant current context is his Giants listing, not his former Pittsburgh workload. Depth-chart order is useful evidence about role, but it does not establish a guaranteed touch share.
For a roster decision, compare expected carries, receiving routes and targets, goal-line chances, team offense, health, and your league’s scoring format. A format that rewards receptions can value a running back’s receiving work differently from one focused on rushing production and touchdowns.
Is Jaylen Warren the Steelers’ lead running back?
As of October 4, 2026, the Steelers’ live depth chart lists Warren first at running back and Rico Dowdle second. That is the team’s current listed order, not a promise about workload; depth charts can change with roster moves and do not specify how touches will be divided. See the Steelers depth chart.

Warren’s 2025 production
In 2025, Warren played 16 games and recorded 211 carries for 958 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, plus 40 receptions for 333 yards and two receiving touchdowns, according to his Steelers profile. Adding the team’s listed rushing and receiving totals yields 251 combined carries and catches, 1,291 combined yards, and eight total touchdowns. Those combined figures are arithmetic derived from the team’s figures, not a separate statistic reported by the team.
The receiving production gives fantasy managers a concrete reason to examine Warren’s route and target role, especially in reception-scoring formats. The 2025 totals show what he produced over that season; they do not establish his 2026 workload or guarantee that the same output will recur.

What team is Najee Harris on now?
NFL.com lists Harris with the New York Giants in its 2026 statistics. Its current-season line shows 13 carries for 58 yards over two games, with no rushing touchdown listed. That is a two-game sample, not a stable projection; it should not be compared as if it were equivalent to Warren’s full 2025 season. See Harris’s NFL.com statistics.
Harris’s last full Pittsburgh baseline
Harris’s last full Pittsburgh season in the available NFL.com table is 2024: 263 carries for 1,043 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, plus 36 receptions for 283 yards. That season shows a history of substantial rushing volume, but it belongs to a prior team context and does not establish his current Giants role.

How to compare their fantasy roles
| Fantasy factor | Jaylen Warren | Najee Harris |
|---|---|---|
| Current team and role signal | Steelers; listed first at running back, with Rico Dowdle second on the October 4, 2026 depth chart. | Giants, according to NFL.com’s 2026 statistics page; the cited page does not establish a comparable depth-chart rank. |
| Recent full-season evidence | 2025 Pittsburgh: 211 carries, 958 rushing yards, six rushing TDs; 40 receptions, 333 receiving yards, two receiving TDs. | 2024 Pittsburgh: 263 carries, 1,043 rushing yards, six rushing TDs; 36 receptions, 283 receiving yards. |
| Current-season sample in the cited statistics | A complete 2026 line is not established by the cited profile. | 2026: 13 carries for 58 yards in two games; a small sample, not a projection. |
Opportunity and workload
Warren’s first-listed position is the more direct current role signal in the available information. It still cannot answer how many carries he will get or whether another back will take high-value situations. Harris’s former Pittsburgh carry total is historical context, not a measure of his Giants workload. For either player, current team usage is more relevant than reputation or an old head-to-head comparison.
Receiving and scoring format
Both players had receiving production in their cited full-season lines: Warren caught 40 passes in 2025, and Harris caught 36 in 2024. The seasons differ, so those counts are not a controlled comparison of their current roles. In a reception-scoring league, check present targets and routes; in any format, weigh touchdown opportunities alongside total workload.

Health and weekly status
The Steelers’ profile records Warren as inactive due to injury in Week 4 of 2025. That is historical context, not his current status. The Steelers injury index lists a Week 4 report dated October 1, 2026, and explains that DNP, LP, and FP refer to practice participation, while Out, Doubtful, and Questionable are game-status labels. The index alone does not establish Warren’s individual Week 4 status. Check the latest Steelers injury information and the Giants’ current report before making a weekly lineup decision; Harris’s current injury status is not established here.

What the numbers do—and do not—tell fantasy managers
- They establish recent production: Warren’s 2025 totals include both rushing and receiving output; Harris’s 2024 totals document substantial Pittsburgh rushing volume and receiving work.
- They do not establish current rankings: the cited material provides no attributable consensus ranking, exact rest-of-season projection, or fantasy-points comparison for the two players.
- They are not same-season results: Warren’s full-season baseline is from 2025, while Harris’s last full Pittsburgh baseline is from 2024. Their teams and circumstances differ.
- Current role can change: the Steelers depth chart is live and was accessed October 4, 2026. Recheck team depth charts and weekly reports when making a time-sensitive decision.
