Yes. Garry’s Mod creator Garry Newman said on July 31, 2024, that Alexey Gerasimov, the creator known as DaFuq!?Boom!, had contacted him and that their issue was “all resolved.” The notice Newman had described concerned Skibidi Toilet-related Garry’s Mod games; it was a reported episode, not an unresolved dispute.
What happened with the reported notice?
On July 30, 2024, Gizmodo reported that Newman had posted a screenshot in a Discord server describing a claimed DMCA notice about Skibidi Toilet-related Garry’s Mod games. The screenshot said that “Significant revenue is being generated by unauthorized Skibidi Toilet Garry’s Mod games that are being advertised everywhere.” That is wording attributed to the screenshot, not an independently established finding about the games or their revenue.

According to Gizmodo, the screenshot also said there was “absolutely no licensed Steam, Valve, Garry’s Mod content related to Skibidi Toilet.” The statement belongs to the notice screenshot; it should not be read as a court ruling or a statement by Newman. Gizmodo reported that the screenshot cited copyright registration VAu 1-509-921, which it said was a real registration associated with Invisible Narratives. The registration alone does not establish that every claim in the notice was valid. Gizmodo’s report and July 31 update
How Newman said the matter ended
Gizmodo updated its article on July 31, 2024, reporting that Newman told IGN the notice had arrived earlier that year and that Gerasimov contacted him after seeing Newman’s Discord post. Newman’s confirmation was brief: “DaFuq has been in touch, all resolved.” That update changes the context of the original headline: the two had made contact, and Newman described their matter as resolved.

Why Valve assets do not settle the ownership question
Skibidi Toilet is a machinima series that uses Valve Half-Life art assets, while Garry’s Mod is built around Source and Valve-related assets. That overlap does not mean Newman owns the underlying Valve material, nor does it by itself establish who had the right to issue the reported notice.
Facepunch’s fan-content guidelines distinguish material the company owns from third-party intellectual property that may appear in Garry’s Mod or s&box experiences. Facepunch says its guidelines apply only to aspects of its games that it owns and do not grant permission to create fan content based on third-party IP. Facepunch fan-content guidelines

- USE YOUR DICE WELL - It’s in the tagline of the game: “Dice Break The Rules.” Being able to choose not to follow the lead suit when it’s advantageous to you can be huge! Don’t ignore collecting dice.
- MANIPULATE THE X CARDS - Having the most X’s is bad: they each count as one negative point. You might be able to feed your x cards to the perceived scoring leader.
- HOLDING ONTO CARDS - Because you score cards left in hand, it can be a fun challenge to try and keep well-scoring cards not be pulled out by the trick-taking rules.
- ART BY BETH SOBEL - "Mori" is the Latin word for death and the Japanese word for forest. Both of these interpretations are represented in the artwork of this card game.
- PRAISE FOR MORI - "a fresh take on a familiar genre that will be an easy learn for fans of this type of card game." BGG User KRWoods1
How the later Invisible Narratives lawsuit is different
The later case involving Invisible Narratives LLC and Next Level Apps Technology – FZCO is separate from Newman’s 2024 account. Court materials describe Gerasimov assigning rights to Invisible Narratives and allegations concerning Next Level’s registrations and takedown notices. Those are claims and procedural events in that case, not proof that the earlier notice against Garry’s Mod was adjudicated or invalidated. The filings and court record also describe a 2025 preliminary-injunction stipulation. Court docket materials
The latest procedural records identified here include a February 2026 case-management order setting deadlines and an April 1, 2026 order resetting a motion-to-dismiss hearing for May 6, 2026. Those orders set steps in the separate litigation; they do not establish what happened at the hearing or the case’s status afterward. Case-management and hearing orders
