Aspects change how an arm works, sometimes substantially. To unlock a hidden aspect, progress through the weapon’s standard aspects, meet the guide’s Rank V and weapon-collection requirements, obtain a Waking Phrase from the associated character, then use it at the Crossroads Waking Pool.
What weapon aspects do in Hades II
An aspect is a distinct version of a Nocturnal Arm that changes its behavior or strengthens particular moves. The differences can alter a weapon’s rhythm, range, setup, or combat role rather than simply improving every attack. Supergiant described the hidden forms as giving each main weapon “an all-new fighting style to unlock” in The Unseen Update.
The current roster described below comes from a secondary guide updated in 2026, not an official developer roster. Treat the playstyle notes as quick orientation, and check the weapon’s in-game description for exact effects. A fan reference whose title says “All 18” is incomplete for the current roster; it should not be used to establish the total.
All 24 Hades II weapon aspects
The six Nocturnal Arms are the Witch’s Staff, Sister Blades, Moonstone Axe, Umbral Flames, Argent Skull, and Black Coat. The table lists the four aspects attributed to each in the current secondary guide. Each weapon has three standard aspects and one hidden aspect.

These cues summarize broad mechanics, not exact in-game descriptions or damage values. Xinth, the Black Coat, was introduced as the last Nocturnal Arm in Supergiant’s Olympic Update announcement, which also noted that it had unique aspects.
How to unlock a hidden aspect
A secondary guide updated June 27, 2026 gives a shared unlock checklist. Its requirements are guide-reported; the game’s current dialogue and Crossroads prompts are the authority if wording or requirements differ.
Rank #2
- Battle beyond the Underworld to vanquish the Titan of Time as the Princess of the Dead in this bewitching sequel to the original rogue-like dungeon crawler. Hades II lets players explore a bigger, deeper mythic world with the full might of Olympus at their call in a story that reacts to their every setback and accomplishment.
- Acquire all six Nocturnal Arms. The hidden-aspect checklist calls for the full weapon collection.
- Unlock the three standard aspects on the target weapon. Do this for the specific arm whose hidden form you want.
- Raise an aspect on that weapon to Rank V. The guide specifies at least one Rank V aspect on the target weapon.
- Speak with the associated character and obtain its Waking Phrase. The character-to-weapon mapping is in the table below.
- Use the Waking Pool at that weapon’s Crossroads dais. Interact with the pool, apply the phrase, and pay the forge cost to unlock the hidden aspect.
| Weapon | Hidden aspect | Associated character |
|---|---|---|
| Witch’s Staff | Anubis | Circe |
| Sister Blades | the Morrigan | Artemis |
| Moonstone Axe | Nergal | Charon |
| Umbral Flames | Supay | Moros |
| Argent Skull | Hel | Medea |
| Black Coat | Shiva | Selene |
The guide also reports specific Rank I materials and Nightmare costs for later ranks, but those forge figures are secondary-source details and are not needed to follow the shared unlock flow. Check the current in-game forge before spending materials.
How to choose an aspect
There is no single aspect that is best for every player, weapon, or run. Instead of choosing on a tier label alone, compare the aspect’s changed move with the way you like to fight.

- Weapon and range: Decide whether you want close combat, projectiles, area effects, or tools for repositioning.
- Move changed: Identify whether the aspect alters Attack, Special, an Omega move, dash or sprint, or an interaction with a Hex.
- Setup and resource demands: Check whether its payoff depends on repeated hits, a Cast, Magick, a charge gauge, or specific positioning.
- Execution: Consider how much timing, aiming, or clean play it rewards.
- Run goal: A build aimed at clearing rooms may value different strengths from one focused on boss damage, safety, flexibility, or a particular character fantasy.
Damage ceiling, consistency at higher Fear, accessibility, and performance against rooms versus bosses are useful comparison axes, but any ranking built from them is editorial judgment rather than an official balance verdict. Patch changes can also shift how an aspect performs.

Hades II reached v1.0 on September 25, 2025, on PC and Nintendo Switch platforms, according to Supergiant’s launch announcement. Its Steam announcement feed includes later patches and hotfixes, including fixes affecting individual aspects. That history is why exact mechanical advice and “best aspect” rankings should be treated as patch-sensitive rather than timeless. For a particular run, rely on the current in-game description and check Supergiant’s Hades II Steam announcements for later update context.
