If Nintendo eShop will not open on your Switch, first check Nintendo’s network maintenance and operational-status page and your internet provider’s outage notices. Then note the exact error code shown and look it up on Nintendo Support; codes point to different problems, so a fix for one code may not apply to another. If services are available, work through the local connection checks below, then verify the selected user’s Nintendo Account.
Check whether Nintendo or your internet provider is having an outage
Before changing settings, check Nintendo’s network maintenance and operational-status page and ask your internet provider whether there is an outage or planned maintenance. Nintendo cautions that status updates may be delayed, so a page that has not changed does not prove there is no incident.
If an outage is listed, wait for service to recover before troubleshooting your home setup. If no issue is listed, continue; the cause could still be your provider, router, Wi-Fi, or console.
Look up the exact error code
Write down the full code and any accompanying message, then search for that code on Nintendo Support. Follow the instructions for that exact code rather than inferring a cause from its digits.

What error 2110-2215 means
Nintendo describes error 2110-2215 as appearing when a Switch cannot connect properly to a wireless access point. Possible causes include incorrect internet settings, such as a password, or unstable wireless conditions. Nintendo’s remedies include setting up the connection again, restarting the console and router or access point, updating system software and router firmware, and improving wireless signal quality. This diagnosis is specific to 2110-2215; use Nintendo’s guidance for any other code.
Check the Wi-Fi network and signal
- Move close to the router. For setup, Nintendo recommends placing the Switch about 2–3 metres from the wireless router. This helps test whether signal conditions are involved; it does not by itself prove distance caused the problem.
- Open the connection settings. From HOME, go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings.
- Select the correct network. Choose your router’s SSID. If you are unsure which network or password to use, check the router label or its documentation.
- Re-enter the password carefully. Check capitalization and punctuation, then confirm the connection. The console should report whether the test succeeded.

Restart and update the console and network equipment
- Restart the Switch. A restart may clear a temporary console problem. Then check for a system update at System Settings > System > System Update. Nintendo’s system-update page explains that the console should be updated when its installed version is not the latest; check that page for current update information rather than relying on an old version number.
- Restart the router or modem. Use the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific equipment; restart procedures vary by model.
- Check router firmware. Consult the router manufacturer’s instructions for available firmware updates and how to install them.

Choose the network-specific test that fits your setup

A wired connection is optional, not a guaranteed fix. Hardware depends on the console and dock: Nintendo says the OLED model’s included HEG-007 dock has a LAN port, while some other setups need a compatible LAN adapter; Switch Lite requires additional equipment for wired networking. A router and LAN cable are also required. Check Nintendo’s wired-connection instructions for your model before buying or connecting hardware.

Optional: try a temporary DNS change
Nintendo notes that changing DNS settings may improve a connection. Treat this as a reversible test: record the current DNS setting before changing it, then restore automatic or default settings if the change does not help. Do not assume DNS is the cause merely because changing it is one troubleshooting option.
Confirm the selected user’s Nintendo Account
eShop is an online storefront for downloadable games and add-on content, so it needs a working internet connection. The selected Switch user must also be linked to a Nintendo Account to launch the store. If the console’s connection test succeeds but eShop still fails, confirm that you selected the user linked to the account you intend to use.

Nintendo warns that a linked account cannot simply be changed to another account. Check the intended account before considering any account changes; do not casually unlink or relink a user. Nintendo’s eShop support information lists a Switch, internet access, a Nintendo Account, a user linked to that account, and a way to add funds if needed as requirements. The cited page is specifically for accounts set to Japan, so use Nintendo Support for your own region for local access, payment, and prepaid-code rules.
