Critical Role Campaign 4 is designed as a fresh starting point: it takes place in Aramán, outside the earlier campaigns’ Exandria setting, and Critical Role says new viewers can jump in. Start with Episode 1, “The Fall of Thjazi Fang.” Brennan Lee Mulligan is the game master, and the story shifts among three groups—the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers.
Can I start Critical Role with Campaign 4?
Yes. Campaign 4 begins in Aramán, a setting beyond Exandria, so you do not need to know the earlier campaigns to follow its central story. Critical Role’s Campaign Four announcement explicitly invites first-time viewers to jump in.
The campaign follows the people connected to Thjazi Fang, a war hero facing execution under politically suspicious circumstances. The opening brings his friends, family, and enemies to Dol-Makjar as they try to understand what is happening. Critical Role’s Campaign 4 hub collects episodes and recaps if you want to catch up or refresh the story.
What episode does Campaign 4 start with?
Begin with Episode 1, “The Fall of Thjazi Fang.” Its premise establishes the execution and the characters drawn into its aftermath. You can watch it on the official Episode 1 page.

The first four episodes form an Overture: they introduce the story and characters before the campaign moves into its rotating-table format. Starting later may mean meeting only one part of the larger cast or entering an ongoing arc.
How do the three Campaign 4 tables work?
Critical Role describes the campaign as using a West Marches-style structure, with players rotating among three groups. The format allows the story to follow different character combinations and perspectives rather than a single fixed party throughout.
