How to find the chained outhouse
Look on the Braithwaite Manor grounds near the small outbuildings and the edge of the estate. References describe it as southeast of a small group of buildings, but directional descriptions vary; use the manor’s smaller buildings as landmarks rather than relying on a precise distance or compass direction.
The chain across the door is the tell. You can hear someone speaking from inside, which signals that the structure holds more than an inaccessible shed.

Who is Gertrude Braithwaite?
Gertrude is a member of the Braithwaite family. During a relevant story interaction, Penelope identifies her as her cousin, connecting the person behind the chained door to the family’s story.
The encounter establishes that Gertrude is confined inside; it does not establish a way to rescue her. Claims about why the family locked her away, or theories about the words she repeats, should not be treated as confirmed explanations.

Does the outhouse change later?
Secondary game guides report that a later epilogue visit shows remains inside instead of the living encounter associated with Arthur’s story. This is a reported later-story state; the available accounts do not establish every trigger or guarantee identical behavior in every save or version.
