Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo follow upcoming Steam releases, add games to your wishlist and check Steam’s release calendar; use SteamDB to scan a wider list and monitor app-history changes. But Steam does not promise a notification whenever a developer changes an announced release date. Wishlist alerts cover documented events such as release and qualifying discounts, not every date edit.
How to track upcoming Steam releases
- Add each game to your Steam wishlist. This gives Steam a clear signal that you want to follow the title and ensures it appears in your logged-in release calendar even if Steam’s recommendation system would not select it.
- Check Steam’s release calendar regularly. Valve says its recommendations refresh daily and describes the calendar as looking across an eight-week horizon. It is a personalized view of upcoming releases, not an alert system for date edits. Valve’s calendar announcement
- Use SteamDB for a broader scan. Its Upcoming Releases page lists dated upcoming Steam products and offers filters. Its release calendar provides another way to browse releases by day, with selection limits described below.
- For a date that matters, verify the current Steam store page. A SteamDB app update or history entry can help you spot that something changed, but it is not by itself proof that the public release date changed.
Will Steam notify you when a release date changes?
Not according to Steam’s current wishlist documentation. Valve lists release events, qualifying discounts and one notification for an associated public demo among the documented wishlist notification triggers; it does not list edits to an announced release date. Do not rely on a wishlist email or push alert to tell you that a developer postponed or otherwise changed a date. Steamworks wishlist documentation

Steam says a wishlisted game becoming available in Early Access or as a full release may prompt an email and/or mobile push notification. A move from Early Access to full release is also a documented event. A developer may issue one notification for an associated free public demo within the timing window described in Steamworks documentation. Qualifying discounts can also trigger notifications. Valve cautions that notification triggers may change, so these are documented current behaviors, not permanent guarantees.
Notifications depend on account and delivery conditions
- Email notifications require a verified email address, and account preferences can exclude some categories.
- Steam documents a two-week per-app cooldown after communication about the same app ID; it may extend the cooldown during high-volume periods.
- Notifications can be sent over several hours, so even an eligible event should not be treated as an immediate alert.
Review your Steam email preferences and verify the email address on your account if you expect email notifications. Mobile push delivery is another documented route, but no setting turns wishlist notifications into a guaranteed date-change alert.

What each tracking option is good for
| Option | Best for | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Steam wishlist | Following specific games and receiving documented release or promotion notices | No promise of an alert for every announced-date edit; delivery depends on account settings and cooldowns. |
| Steam release calendar | A personalized near-term view that includes wishlisted games | Valve describes an eight-week horizon; it is not documented as a date-change alert. |
| SteamDB Upcoming Releases | Finding and filtering dated upcoming Steam products | The live listings are dynamic and may be incomplete or filtered. |
| SteamDB release calendar | Calendar-style browsing of selected releases by day | It shows the most-followed game for each day under its selection rules, rather than every release, and hides adult games. See SteamDB’s calendar. |
| SteamDB watchlist and app history | Noticing changes to app data and reviewing historical records | A generic update or changenumber can reflect unrelated or batch changes, not a public release-date edit. SteamDB says it is independent and not affiliated with Valve. See its FAQ. |
Why a Steam release date may be vague or change
A public store page may show an exact date, month and year, calendar quarter, year only, or “Coming Soon.” Valve says developers provide Steamworks with an intended exact date, while Steam localizes how that information appears publicly. A broad public label therefore does not necessarily mean the developer has no more specific intended date. Steamworks release-date documentation
Valve’s documentation says developers can adjust a release date up to two weeks before the specified date. Once the game starts appearing more often in upcoming-release lists during that two-week window, the ordinary adjustment process described by Valve no longer applies. A vague label or a changing listing should not be treated as a reliable signal of what the developer will do next.

A practical routine for games you cannot afford to miss
- Wishlist the game so it appears in Steam’s calendar and so documented release-event notifications can apply.
- Check the release calendar during the weeks leading up to the expected launch; use SteamDB’s upcoming list if you are tracking many games or looking beyond your personalized view.
- If you notice a SteamDB app-history change, inspect the relevant history and then confirm the date on the game’s current Steam store page.
- Keep Steam email preferences and account verification in order if you want email notices, and remember that notifications are conditional rather than guaranteed real-time alerts.
