What does each option actually guarantee?
Guaranteed player rewards
“Guaranteed” means only what the live reward description says. Check whether it promises a particular player, a choice from a defined group, a minimum rating, or eligibility restrictions. A rating threshold alone does not ensure a player who fits your squad or solves a position need.

SBC packs
Read the pack description and its probability screen together. EA says a pack contains one or more items of the minimum guaranteed quality or rating in its description and probability information. A 100% probability for a broad category means at least one item matching that category and rating range, not a named player.
How to compare an SBC reward with a pack
- Check the outcome. Write down exactly what the reward guarantees and what the pack guarantees at its floor. Do not compare a defined player or player choice with a pack’s headline category as if they were equivalent.
- Assess squad fit. Ask whether the guaranteed player fills a real position or chemistry need. If not, decide whether the reward is still useful to you as an SBC ingredient. A pack can have more possible outcomes, but many may not help your squad.
- Count the full cost. For an SBC, include the coins and the value of tradable or untradable items submitted. For a pack, compare its current in-game coin or FC Points price. The right comparison is the live offer against the resources you would give up, not a generic price or old SBC estimate.
- Read the current odds in-game. Use the timestamp on the exact pack or player-pick probability screen. EA updates probabilities as live content changes, so older odds may no longer describe the offer.
- Consider timing. If neither offer is compelling, keeping your resources for a later live offer is an option. Do not assume an expired offer or its old odds are still available.
What pack probabilities do—and do not—tell you
EA defines displayed probabilities as minimum chances of receiving one or more items in a listed category and rating range. A broad category percentage is not the probability of receiving any one named player. EA says the chance for a particular item can be much lower than the category probability and is often below 1%; that is general guidance, not a current rate for a specific pack.

EA’s article, Ultimate Team Probabilities in EA SPORTS FC™, published August 20, 2026, gives Gold 75+ Player at 100%, Gold 82+ Player at 18%, and Gold 84+ Player at 4.2% as an illustration. EA explicitly warns that the example may not match the final product, so these figures are not live odds to use when deciding what to open.
Odds are per opening, not cumulative
Each opening is independent: previous openings do not change the chance on the next one. As EA puts it, “Any probability percentages that you see are on a pack-by-pack basis and are not cumulative.” Opening more packs does not make a particular player due.

So, should you do the SBC pack or take the guaranteed player?
- Lean toward the guaranteed reward when its stated outcome directly serves your squad and the resources you submit are worth the result to you.
- Lean toward the pack when its guaranteed floor is useful enough and you knowingly accept the chance that the contents will not improve your squad.
- Wait or skip both when you cannot justify the SBC opportunity cost, the pack floor has little value to you, or you would rather save resources for another offer.
There is no established universal winner: a defensible expected-value comparison requires the exact live reward pool, odds, SBC requirements, and comparable resource costs. Ultimate Team requires the relevant EA SPORTS FC product, game updates, internet access, and an EA account.
