QuestLHSync uses a Steam Frame’s cameras to spot flashes from SteamVR 2.0 base stations and align lighthouse devices with the headset’s own tracking space. The project says this workflow needs no tracker mounted on the headset and replaces SpaceCalibrator for this purpose. It is a documented project capability, not an independently verified accuracy claim.
How QuestLHSync works
Steam Frame tracks the headset and controllers with outward-facing cameras. Valve lists four monochrome cameras for that tracking, plus two interior cameras for eye tracking and infrared illuminators for dark environments: Valve’s Steam Frame specifications.
QuestLHSync uses the headset’s camera system to observe SteamVR 2.0 base-station flashes. Its headset component serves those observations over the local network; on Steam Frame, that component includes a user service and a small SteamVR driver. A separate PC-side SteamVR driver calculates the alignment, applies it to lighthouse devices, and adds a QuestLHSync page to the SteamVR dashboard. The project describes the observations as bright-spot positions rather than camera images.
What you need
- SteamVR 2.0 base stations. Base Station 1.0 is explicitly unsupported by the QuestLHSync README.
- A Windows PC running SteamVR and a headset connected to the PC through a supported streaming transport. The README names Steam Link, Link, Air Link, Virtual Desktop, ALVR, and CreoleCast as examples.
- The same local network for the PC and headset.
- At least one active lighthouse device, such as a tracker or Index controller. The project says SteamVR only shows base stations when at least one such device is on.
Steam Frame and Quest support are different
The project documents Steam Frame installation at user level; it says root access and a developer password are not required. Its documented procedure unpacks an archive, runs an install script, starts a user service, and restarts headset-side SteamVR once to load the driver.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For Quest, the README documents Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S rooted with Magisk. It identifies Quest Pro as tested, while Quest 3 and Quest 3S are listed as not tried. That distinction matters: the README’s support listing is not the same as demonstrated testing across all three headsets.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Install the headset-side component and the PC-side SteamVR driver, following the README for the headset model and streaming setup.
- Keep SteamVR closed while registering the PC driver, as the project instructs.
- Start SteamVR and open the QuestLHSync page in the SteamVR dashboard.
- For first identification, wear a tracker or hold a controller, then look around so the headset cameras can see both base stations. The project says it establishes and saves an alignment after identifying them.
These are the project’s setup instructions, not independently tested steps or a guarantee of a particular alignment accuracy.
Do not run another lighthouse-pose correction tool at the same time
Disable SpaceCalibrator, OpenVR-SpaceSync, and any other tool that modifies lighthouse-device poses before using QuestLHSync. The project warns that simultaneous corrections conflict because both tools attempt to adjust the same devices.

How it differs from SpaceCalibrator
QuestLHSync and OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator approach alignment differently. QuestLHSync uses camera observations of base-station flashes and says it does not require a headset-mounted tracker. OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator’s upstream instructions describe selecting one device from each tracking system, holding them together, and moving them through different orientations to calibrate. Its README also warns that extensive room movement can produce nontrivial drift between systems: OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator README.
| Point of comparison | QuestLHSync | OpenVR-SpaceCalibrator |
|---|---|---|
| Alignment method | Headset cameras observe base-station flashes; alignment is computed by the PC-side driver, according to the project README. | Manual paired-device calibration through movement in different orientations, according to its upstream README. |
| Headset-mounted tracker | Project says one is not needed for its workflow. | The described calibration uses a device from each tracking system. |
| Base-station generation | SteamVR 2.0 required; 1.0 explicitly unsupported. | Not stated in the cited upstream README. |
| Drift caveat | No independent drift or accuracy benchmark is established in the cited project documentation. | Upstream README warns that extensive room movement can cause nontrivial drift. |
This is a difference in documented workflow, not evidence that one tool is more accurate or performs better. No independent head-to-head performance result is established by the cited documentation.

Privacy and network security
QuestLHSync’s headset service answers requests from anyone on the local network without authentication, according to its README. The project says it sends bright-spot positions, camera calibration, and headset serial number, model, and firmware—not camera images—and reads the cameras only while a PC is connected. It recommends using the software on a trusted network. Consider who can access that network before installing the service.
What the documentation does—and does not—establish
The project documentation describes compatibility, setup, and its claimed alignment method. Valve’s product page describes Steam Frame’s tracking hardware. Neither source establishes an independently measured accuracy figure for QuestLHSync on Steam Frame, and the documentation should not be read as an independent performance validation.
