It targets the 2007 Xbox 360 release, recompiles its game code to run directly on an x86-64 PC processor, and uses a compatibility layer for Xbox 360 services. It is not an EA-made PC port, and you must provide your own Xbox 360 game ISO.
What “native on PC” means here
The project statically recompiles the Xbox 360 game’s PowerPC executable into C++ and builds an x86-64 executable. The game code therefore runs on the PC’s CPU rather than being translated instruction by instruction during play. A layer called ReXGlue, derived from Xenia, provides Xbox 360 kernel, audio, input and graphics services. Calling the CPU execution native is accurate; calling the whole project a fully native rewrite is not.

TechEBlog reported that about 82,000 game functions had been converted, but that count is the outlet’s figure rather than a metric independently stated in the project README. TechEBlog’s October 4, 2026 report.
What you need to play
- Your own Xbox 360 copy: The project does not include the original game. Its README says, “This project does not include any game content. You need your own copy of the Xbox 360 game.” The launcher installs from an Xbox 360 ISO.
- A compatible PC: The standard build requires a 64-bit x86 CPU with AVX2. A separate NoAVX2 package supports SSE4.2 CPUs, with lower performance.
- Graphics support: Linux requires a current Vulkan driver. Windows supports Direct3D 12 and also documents Vulkan as an option.
- Storage and controls: The README estimates about 5 GB of free disk space and recommends a controller. Keyboard and mouse are supported and can be rebound.
The project’s main target is the US Xbox 360 release, title ID 45410809. The European release also boots and plays, but has received less testing.

How to install it
- Obtain an Xbox 360 ISO from your own copy of the game. The project download does not supply the game files.
- Download the project build for your operating system and check that your CPU and graphics backend meet its requirements.
- On Linux or Steam Deck, launch
Play.sh; on Windows, launchsimpsons-launcher.exe. - Use the launcher to install the game from the ISO. The launcher also supports adding the game to Steam.
These launcher names and requirements are documented in the project README. The project says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by EA, Fox, Microsoft or other rights holders. Backup laws differ by location; check the rules where you live.
Supported platforms and features
The repository lists Linux x86-64 and Steam Deck as playable, with Steam Deck as the project’s main test platform. Windows x86-64 is also playable but less tested. Android is listed as planned, not currently playable.

DSOGaming reported that an update raised Steam Deck performance at 2x resolution from 50 FPS to about 59 FPS, and that shaders are precompiled to help reduce stutter when entering areas. Known frame-rate issue
The original game’s logic was designed around 30 FPS, so some scripted events can behave incorrectly when gameplay runs at 60 FPS. The README identifies random deaths at the dam in “Lisa the Tree Hugger” as a specific example. If it happens, the project’s advice is to switch that section to 30 FPS.

The game scheduler cannot exceed 60 FPS. Choosing 90 or 120 FPS does not add frames and may make pacing less even. The 30 FPS limit for menus and loading screens is also deliberate: those screens run their logic once per frame.

The project is still in progress, and its roadmap includes work on a fully native renderer, widescreen support, fixes, restored content and mods. Windows has less testing behind it than Linux and Steam Deck, so platform support should not be read as a guarantee of identical stability or performance.

The available project documentation and coverage do not establish a controlled performance or accuracy comparison with original Xbox 360 hardware or Xenia. The project is a way to play the Xbox 360 version on supported PC systems, but the evidence does not show that it is faster or more accurate than either alternative.
