Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.4, Into the Mist, adds a new main-scenario chapter, a trial, Arcadion raid content, a Frontline campaign, and major glamour and tomestone changes. It is a historical update, not the latest patch: the official patch index lists 7.5 and its follow-up updates after 7.4.
What Patch 7.4 added
Square Enix’s official Patch 7.4 notes, updated December 23, 2025, call the update Into the Mist and set its story after Calyx’s defeat. The principal additions include:

- Worqor Chirteh (Triumph), a new Frontline campaign.
- A broad change to glamour rules, plus strategy boards and the Command Panel.

How to start the new 7.4 main scenario
Opening quest: With the Winds
To begin, take the quest With the Winds from Alphinaud in Solution Nine at X:11.9, Y:6.3. The listed requirement is a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic, and you must have completed The Promise of Tomorrow.
#1 Best Overall
- Adventure awaits you beyond the horizon in FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- This product is a digital 60-Day Game Time Card for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. It serves as a payment option that allows players to add 60 days of game time to their FFXIV account at the Standard subscription rate, subject to account limits. Both the game and game time are required to play.
- This product can be redeemed on service accounts registered with the Windows, Mac, PlayStation, or Steam versions of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. However, it cannot be redeemed on service accounts that have only the XBOX or Nintendo Switch 2 versions registered.
The official quest list masks later quest titles and details with question marks, so their names and requirements are not established in the published notes.
What changed for glamour
Patch 7.4 lets equipment be glamoured without regard to its class/job or level requirements, and lets its appearance display regardless of your current class, job, or level. This is a change to glamour display flexibility; it does not change which equipment your character can actually equip or use.
Rank #2
- Access to all expansion content from Heavensward and Stormblood, unlocking additional jobs, areas, story quests and more ways to explore: flying, swimming and diving
- A flexible class system that allows players to switch freely between a variety of classes and jobs, including new additions red mage and samurai, and reach the new level cap of level 70
- All the hallmarks of the FINAL FANTASY franchise, including an engaging storyline, genre-leading graphics, and HD real time cut scenes.
- Robust gameplay features such as player-managed Free Companies, diverse party finder features to group up with other players with ease, and a variety of fun activities in the Gold Saucer area, all designed to accommodate a dynamic player community.
- Challenging trials, dungeons and raids for groups of up to 24, and exciting player-vs-player (PvP) content for groups of up to 72 players
Restrictions remain: the notes retain equipment restrictions based on race, gender, and Grand Company affiliation, and weapons and tools must be glamoured with the same item type.
Tomestones and gearing changes
| Tomestone | Patch 7.4 change | Limits or exchange details |
|---|---|---|
| Mnemonics | New currency; can be exchanged for gear, which can then be enhanced through named NPCs in Solution Nine. | Up to 450 per week and 2,000 held at a time. You must first reach level 100 with at least one Disciple of War or Magic. |
| Mathematics | Weekly acquisition limit removed. | Maximum held remains 2,000. |
| Heliometry | No longer obtainable after Patch 7.4. | Previously earned heliometry can be exchanged for mathematics through Auriana in Mor Dhona. |
| Aesthetics | Removed. | The notes do not state a continuing acquisition or exchange option. |
| Poetics | Remains obtainable. | Available from duties up to level 90 and certain roulettes. |
These limits and currency rules are the figures and conditions listed in Square Enix’s Patch 7.4 notes.

| 7.45 | The Merchant’s Tale variant dungeon; Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures. |
This is the schedule recorded in the 7.4 notes, distinguishing these features from the initial 7.4 release.

Patch status and a resolved launch issue
As of October 4, 2026, the official patch-notes index lists 7.5, 7.51, 7.55, and 7.56 after the 7.4 entries. Use this page as a guide to 7.4 rather than a current-patch summary.
After 7.4’s release, Square Enix reported an issue in which certain actions performed shortly after mounting could prevent job changes; Sprint was offered as a temporary workaround. The official known-issue notice, updated May 1, 2026, says maintenance on April 28, 2026 addressed it. It is a resolved historical issue, not a current workaround requirement.
