Sony lists credit card, Rakuten Pay, PayPay, and Merpay as accepted payment methods. The sale is online, not through a physical Sony Store location.

When does Sony use a lottery?
The sale is not automatically a lottery: Sony says it will conduct one if qualifying applications exceed the planned sale quantity. Its notice states: 「またご応募数が販売予定台数を超えた場合は抽選とさせていただきますので、あらかじめご了承ください。」 Sony does not disclose the planned unit count or the odds of selection, so applicants cannot estimate their chances from the notice.
What happens if a selected applicant does not buy?
Unpurchased allocations may be offered in additional sales from November onward through another draw among eligible applicants who were not selected. Sony has not specified a date for that redraw.

Does this guarantee protection from scalpers?
No outcome of that kind is established by the sale notice. Sony sets residency, account, playtime, and resale-related conditions, but publishes no measured anti-scalping results. Contemporary coverage has framed the sale against stock shortages and as an anti-scalping measure; Sony does not quantify shortages or claim that the rules eliminate scalping. Buying a PS5 Pro elsewhere does not count as an application to this Sony Store sale.
